Here is what has helped me 1. Phone calls - Keep blocking them 1 by 1. This takes a couple of months but I have recently felt that the spam calls have reduced drastically to only 1 or 2 calls in a month. Pro - You won't have to install any 3rd party app. Con - It takes time and is a long process. Slow and steady wins the race. 2. SMS - Same approach as the above. 3. Emails - I spent 3-4 hours on a Sunday afternoon to ensure all unnecessary mails go to the spam folder. Understand how to apply filters and you can make sure that mails automatically go into those specific folders so its easier to view and retrieve when required.

It is our nature to become easy victims of spam calls and messages. Look at the way we Indians use the mobile phone. We use it not as an aide to our work but as a life support system. Even in a WhatsApp group we spam each other with unnecessary good morning, good evening messages, and stale old jokes and silly sayings which nobody reads or responds to. Yet people send one another hundreds and thousands of such spam messages.

Last month, I answered a fake CRA call. The moment the caller finished introducing himself as some kind of "officer" in a fake american accent, I started telling him a made up story (crying out loud 🤣) on how my ex gf used my money to buy expensive gifts for herself and when she found out I had no money she left me. The guy tried to stop me every second, because....apparently that's not what he wanted. But I literally continued talking non-stop and made him listen to my made up story. After 39 seconds, he got angry and hung up saying "mo*****er" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Internet calls to mobile incoming must be blocked by all telecom companies to avoid 90% of spam calls (excluding app to app calls via internet) Telecom authority can identify these numbers as internet call are different then mobile numbers. If impersonation has happened that will be flagged multiple times in system of different telecom companies and people report those numbers and associated id's.

Users privacy as per telecom authority is major concern while flashing person name instead of mobile number. But virtually no data law in country anyways compromising user privacy in Consumer to Business model. This is for consumer to consumer. In such way, identification of caller as consumer Identity can be tracked and identified how it was circulated to internet initially. So chances of identification of such corporate , group increases who misuses identity of consumer indirectly.

It's not an immediate solution but still it has helped me reduce the number of spam calls from about 50/week to about 5-6/week which are basically new numbers that I then block

As a South Indian I use different languages so that the caller has no choice to disconnect the call themselves. Knowing multiple languages helps. Depending on the accent, we can identify where the caller is from. If the caller is offering personal loans, I listen to them and when the caller asks what I do for living....I tell them I am a criminal lawyer or a police officer. They will immediately cut the call and will never call you again.😂

A strategy that works for me - Don't answer unknown numbers. When you meet someone, either save their number or ask them to send a text before calling. If it's someone important, they'll call repeatedly or send a text. If you do answer an unknown caller, immediately inquire about how they got your number and consider ending the call if you're unfamiliar with them.

Add important numbers to favourite list and only allow DND mode to be interrupted for those in this favourite list. Later, you can view 'miss calls' from your non-favourite list and decide whether to return the call or not. If it's really important, people can still reach you through text message, whatsapp or emails if they really can't get you through phone calls but spammers rarely do that and will again try to make the spam call expecting you to pickup. That's how you identify spammers and adv calls because they rarely try to reach you through other modes of communication mentioned above when their direct calls don't go through.
@TotoLakay
@TotoLakay Жыл бұрын
Too many steps, have an allowed lists and the ability to put phone numbers on the allowed lists. All spam will stop instantly, no need to block another number they use when they have to be on the list in the first place to reach your phone and ring it. If someone want to contact you, they will send you a letter( help support the post office in a double whammy). The telecom company can put government agencies/911 on the allowed lists automatically for all client and prevent said numbers from being put on that list in the first place. I am a regular, low educated citizen and I can come up with this solution in 10 mins, meaning Governments/shady people working within government are guilty of propping up those scams/spam call agencies. They have more money and will than me, they just refuse and hope the populace is dumb enough to not be able to tell them how to do they jobs.

Hi Palki, The root cause of the problem with 'financial services ' type calls is that the banks pay commission to these callers for any sale. When we make a complaint to the bank saying this number had called offering me your product, they wash their hands off saying they are not our bank employees. One of the biggest culprits here is HDFC Bank. I get at least 3 calls a week offering HDFC personal loan. And why do they do this? Because HDFC offers them a commission. Why can't HDFC or other banks stop this business model? I have no idea about their success rate but considering how everyone seems annoyed with it, I think the success rate could be 1 in 100. If the telecallers are still making these calls, it means the commission offered is pretty high. The banks need to stop this third party commission model. Only then, spam calls will stop. Also guity are these telecom companies who issue unlimited number of new sim cards to these callers, just to show x number of new users in their quarterly results. Please research on this and do a video on these large companies that are encouraging spam.

I have did it by continuous observation for 2 years. I will make a video but 2 points: 1. Never engage with your banks relationship manager on anything at all. 2. I have blocked over 10000 callers personally but it won have as they have dynamic number generator. What we can ask Trai is to give a exact series of number to any bank and block one blocks all. 3. The only thing truly needed is unique number per organisation/individual. So lets say a uniques pan card holder has unique number, if somebody mark him as fraud should raise a warning on all numbers from this pan card holder and after this guy achieves certain rating, he should be asked to do kyc again by going to police authority justifying his rating. Give him number but he should be identified as a Previous Defaulter marking. Basically add never ending thread of cases against a Pan card .

I change my number every year as soon as I start getting spam calls. That way I learnt that everyone will have start doing it now so that spammers won’t get to us and eventually there business will collapse 😊

Bcoz our numbers fail to be in their DND db. Its flawed system. Keep requesting every now n then to make sure your number is added to DND DB

1. Call blocking apps are not foolproof 2. DND doesn't help, as telemarketers are switching to private mobile phones and skip such dnd regulations. I live in germany for 7 years now. I have an Indian number here on roaming to get OTPs for my transactions in India and everyday i get at least 15 tele marketing calls though i have DnD activated.

That's how you identify spammers and adv calls because they won't try to reach you through other modes of communication mentioned above.

By turning off the phone or not using it often. Phones these days are used for multiple reasons including cheating. Miss the good old days of the 1990s when we didn't get stuck behind a smart phone.

Great job Ms Palki Sharma! Given that India ranks third in receiving the highest number of spam calls, it might be insightful to shift your focus towards countries experiencing the least amount of spam calls. Discover their strategies for maintaining such low or even non-existent levels of spam, and consider creating a new video on this topic. Your investigation could shed light on effective practices for combating spam calls globally.

Enable to silence unknown calls. That is calls from ppl other than your contacts. This can be done in WhatsApp also. Facility available on some phones. Governments should enforce all phone makers to provide this option on the phones. One can visit the missed calls n check for any needed ones from the unknown calls

These Spam calls messages and emails gives hope to many. Imagine a situation where Nigerian prince reaching out to you to help him get out of country and ready to pay you millions in return.. or like those American girls ready to marry you waiting for your nod. Life would be thrilling like bond movies 😂

And now imagine the corrupt people/agencies in power misusing these spam services/Call Centers as a weaponized tool to persistently harass the targetted individual. What if this rule is implemented? Once a spam call/message is detected at the telecom exchange, penalize the party instantly by decreasing the data quota exponentially within a time frame, consuming the top-up value for the prepaid connections, or charging money to their phone bills for the postpaid connections. Thank you very much.
