being relentless is a prerequisite, but reducing complexity (of tasks) is the key. you can spend a lot of time and not gain anything but if you reduce complexity to linear - result will follow

Yup, I thought I'd go for it, extremely long video! Those who find it helpful can get the full impact then 🙂

I love these long videos. They are complete. The edited shorter versions may fail to provide the whole picture. I realize of course they are necessary for youtube format so I don't mind them as long as I have the complete versions.

Ahh, this was me 1 year ago. Then I quit that PhD program. Didn't help that they were really dysfunctional & the students who were "cruising" weren't helping me -- I was helping them. Now I'm experiencing this deja vu as a classroom teacher 😢

Sorry to hear, that. 😞Hoping you find a way forward.

Yes first time it hard and slow 3rd time it's faster . Don't forget middle grade. I remember this going to college while also working starting up a tech company. Each giving a break from the other

The mapping gives my brain peace, knowing that it's just a phase and I just need to endure it long enough for the skills to come. Thank you for such a clear explanation and insightful visualization. :)

There is is much value in this. I think this is the first time I've found content that has consistently given my acitonable steps by well defining the problems as well. I think many high achievers here can relate to James Lim's videos. Especially in a hyper fast world, where there are so many things to focus on; along with the dreaded feeling of "Am I doing the right thing / enough?" - these videos have served as a structure for me. Real Value!

This is fantastic!!.Areas such as mindset, productivity, learning, goals, strategies and with great insights to name some. Recommend not being passive whilst watching this video so you can get the most out of it and apply it. It will save you trying to find videos from other channels too. Thankyou for the huge effort and work you put into this👍

If you stop paying attention to what others are doing, you won’t have FOMO and can finally focus on what you’re interested in and what really matters. Intellectual consumerism is today’s problem.

Wow. Intellectual consumerism? Nicely put.

James, regarding putting in enough hours to achieve immersion, how much time daily would learning a (difficult) language require? I'm worried that 2-3 hours a day puts me in the awkward spot of lots of effort but still not achieving immersion, which might take 6-8 hours plus, but is just impractical to do when you have a job and other priorities.

@@James_Lim I have been creating courses on Udemy for the last 3 years and right now it has become a repetitive thing for me and I am seriously bored from it. I get thoughts of getting this to a certain level where I could have a freedom to do whatever I want in my life but I feel this is too much hard for me. I want to learn new skills like PrestaShop development so I can provide PrestaShop services to the clients. I have some friends who are working in it and I also want to learn trading. Because of Udemy I don't have interest in it. I am stuck in it. I also have responsibilities to do due to which I can't leave Udemy for some time.

Wait, 20 hours as the initial input? I thought you would have said 2000? 20 hours is half a week of work as a math undergrad. This wouldn’t even get you through the first week. I think you need to qualify what you mean by “skills” and “projects”.
@ABC-jq7veКүн бұрын
But I guess this explains why doing a degree in something makes someone better at the thing. They’re forced to spend like 40 hours a week on it for 4 years. Compare this to somebody doing it as a hobby, failing to even do the initial 20 hours. This is a huge difference. And explains why companies ask for a bachelors degree. To check to see if they had the consistency to keep turning up every week for four years.
