I remeber my first Epic 26. It came with a renegade 1.95. It was very fast...good for XCM

Thanks for the tire update Annika, the Fast Track has been my go to tire for years, sometimes swap it out for a Ground Control upfront for the rougher stuff, the new FT looks loads better teamed up with a Renegade in the rear should be a good combo... does the Renegade come in the same size options as the FT?

Yes- they come in the same sizes. The new Fast Trak is a lot more rough. It has taken me some time to get used to but for gnarly conditions it is a nice option

I used to favor 2.2 but with the wider rims I find myself sticking to 2.35 a lot. I guess it's personal preference. I always used to favor function over weight (hence the wide tires and fully 😃)

High5 from Chicago Annika. Got the strava PR bug so trying to convert my heavy trail bike into more XC friendly machine. Looking to improve my times on our local nuclear waste dump trails ( I wish I was joking). We have hard pack clay here with some dust on top, some roots, couple rocks here and there. Let's say dialed down Nove Mesto type trails. Current setup on my stumpy is Butcher and Purgatory which are fine in the actual mountains but here for local trails I feel like I could use more knobs, smaller knobs and definitely less rolling resistance. Stumpy is alloy and rolling on alloy wheels so I am closing on 15kg. Does improved rolling come from actual smaller rolling resistance of a given thread pattern or is it mostly mass and type of rubber compound used? When I compare purgatory and fast track, depending on casing and compound, they are rather close in actual mass. Will fast track or renegade roll much easier than purgatory? Also, s-works variety of fast track is very light weight with rather delicate side wall. Any issues there? Thanks much

Renegade is without a doubt the fastest rolling tire. I bought a Purgatory this summer in Lenzerheide when I slashed my Renegade on a rock. It's now sitting on my e-bike 🙂. For PR-attemps I would go with Renegades. I often raced with a s-works in front and control casing rear. I rougher terrain control front and grid rear (Cape Epic style). Just be aware that Renegade have little grip in wet conditions

The road to hell is paved with good intentions! Making vlogs was/is one of those good intentions. It's not so much dentistry as simply a regular job / civil life is keeping me busy :) 25+ hour training weeks is something a dream of these days. I have July off though and will be going to the Les Gets Word Cup. So activity on here will increase again

After updating to the newer version, I regretted my decision as I found the older version of Fast Track to be faster in comparison. I have exclusively used the older version for the last four years.
