Sung by Shabnam Virmani, Swagath Sivakumar, Shreeparna Mitra, Yashwant S.
When those red buds on branches
Will burst into bloom
Then we shall meet. . .
When these tears that flow down cheeks
Are valued as pearls
Then we shall meet . . .
This song immediately captures the heart, especially when you hear a recording of the legendary Allan Faqir of Pakistan sing it. It is one of the most popular compositions of Sheikh Ayaz, a widely loved Pakistani poet who passed away in 1997, and is buried in Bhit Shah alongside the great Sindhi Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. A fitting tribute, since apart from a huge corpus of poetry and fiction, Sheikh Ayaz was very well known for a fine translation of the Shah Jo Risalo from Sindhi into Urdu.

Words of the Song (Sindhi):
Tiri pawanda taareeain
Jadahen garha gul, Allah la!
Tadahen milanda seen
Jadahen warandiyun koonjariyun, ho allah!
Har har kare hulla, Allah la!
Tadahen milanda seen
Galan godaa treemanda, ho allah!
Jadahen motin tul, Allah la!
Tadahen milanda seen
Vichhode ja deenhada, ho allah!
Bhoraain jee bhul, Allah la!
Tadahen milanda seen
When Shall We Meet?
When those red buds on branches
Will burst into bloom
Then we shall meet . . .
When flocks of cranes will return
Calling and crying
Then we shall meet . . .
When these tears that flow down cheeks
Are valued as pearls
Then we shall meet . . .
When these days of separation
Are known as a naive mistake
Then we shall meet . . .
