Mine finally arrived today. Can’t wait to fit it. By that, I mean, I can’t wait for my mechanic to fit it. 👍👍😂

I’m rather mechanically inept and found it needed a little adjusting to fit it securely. Anyone with any mechanical prowess would have no problem fitting. Got it sorted, it fits perfectly and is very heavy duty. Very pleased with it. Takes a weight off my mind knowing that all the weight is on the crossmember rather than the body or door. Highly recommended. 👍👍

Looks good guys 👍👍 and will probably out last the rest of the 90 !! Understand the reason for not having the extra arm and capping fixing point, but I do use the top arm as another step up onto the wheel and then the roof which is needed for us short old people !! Lol 😂 Great up load as always and what we do without mr fixit and technical expert....drum roll...Nisse. You da man !! 👼🏆💫

Required to drill holes in your door if you don't have a wheel carrier already, lost interest as soon as I found that out. I have a brand new real door. I ended up getting Allisport

An extra door latch would be a good idea when you have bigger tyres mounted,extra stress especially when climbing steep Rocky gradient can cause the door to fly open!

Thanks for your vid. Is there anyway to reduce the offset to get the wheel closer to the door?

The arm from the crossmember looks great, the smaller bits and bobs really let it down imo, remember carriers of old where there was a simple hinged brace bar from the same centrally located door plate to the arm via poly bushes, that would probably be a more robust design.... and @ £549 its incredibly expensive.
@TirsbaekTV5 жыл бұрын
It is expensive, but you get what you pay for - Which in this case is a very high quality/well engineered product.

I don't understand the benefit of the carrier being mounted to the chassis only and not to the tub capping? For over 3.5x the price of my Britpart one it seems to actually rattle and flex more!?
@TirsbaekTV5 жыл бұрын
Mounting to the capping will still cause flex in the door, which can lead to it cracking. This won't twist the body or door at all, nor does it require any drilling. Although this one moves about a bit, it's not causing any stress or noise.

At about 19:30 mark you can see force transfer from the wheel to the door, i know its a miner wobble transfer from carrier to the door but do you think that maybe if they made an extra "arm" that would go straight down and when closing the door it would connect to the top point of the chassis, and to make it so you can put two extra pins trough the holes on the "bumper" (chassis) to make it "fix" for the longer drive and when you want to open the door you just have t pull 2 pins out and open it normally, maybe that would be stronger solution?

Kaymar Australia build a brilliant rugged swing away wheel carrier for the defender and I regard as the best available as they need to survive outback road corregations that would smash this unit in one day driving on these roads as we have to do in our travels. .

Love it but will have to remortgage my house for it. 👍
@TirsbaekTV5 жыл бұрын
It's expensive but you're getting something that will last forever unlike some of the cheaper alternatives out there, and at that price it's still not the most expensive wheel carrier on the market.

Oh I don’t doubt the quality. I want it a lot, it’s just I have a stupidly long list of things required (don’t we all). A new crossmember will be a good start. Keep the videos coming please, I’m learning a lot. 👍👍
