Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday alleged the previous YSRCP government (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party) used animal fat instead of ghee to prepare the Tirupati laddu prasadam at Tirumala. The prasad is offered to crores of followers visiting the Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Stirring up a controversy, Naidu said, “Even Tirumala laddu was made with substandard ingredients… they used animal fat instead of ghee.” The Chief Minister, addressing an NDA legislature party meeting in Amravati, also asserted that pure ghee was now being used for preparing the laddu and that everything had been sanitised at the temple, leading to improved quality.

Profit from temples should be used for the welfare of Hindus. In Kerala all profits from Hindu temples are going to government and that is used for Madrasa education. It is high time to protest.

This calls special quality control measures for all inputs be it gingelly oil, ghee, sugar, milk or any other item for use in the temple before actually they are made use of. We have major temples like Sabarimala where similar issues have been reported. Many major temples in Kerala have been known to take special precaution so that what is offered actually is prepared with ultra precautions and purity measures. What has been reported from Tirupati is ominous. Those in powerful positions for temple administration must be people who are devoted in real sense to thwart the designs of such devilish unscrupulous elements

Lot of devotees were complaining that quality of free annadanam meals and laddu have change in taste as well as inferior quality. Infact one devotee even showed how bad the rice was on his cell phone in anguish
