Tisell Pilot 40mm: Best pilots watch under 200 dollars? 4K

Very interesting watch and nicely done review! I like this Tisell compared to other lower-priced fliegers because it provides features that are not usually seen at this level: a hacking movement (Laco's Aachen does not), a sterile dial, and thermally blued hands (Steinhart's Nav B-uhr hands are painted). If you don't mind getting a flieger that is not from one of the original five 1940s manufacturers (Stowa, IWC, A. Lange, Wempe, Laco) then this Tisell is quite a bargain.

Very true. Another feature the Tisell has is that the crown has no ghost position for the date. Stowa and Laco watches have the empty second position even if you buy the no-date dial.

For every watch collection, there should be one pilot watch either type a or b. I chose Tisell type a to fulfilled my collection and the day I needed to feel like a pilot. With good quality of material used and the worthy price I'm proud to have it on my wrist.

Nice filming and review, thanks. I'd prefer a solid base case for comfort/sound/durability and a date at 6, but it doesn't seem to be available at this price point. Ended up ordering one, with the possibility to change it out for Archimede or something in the future if I feel like spending more for those details mentioned.

How loud is the movement? Noticeable on the wrist? I saw Random Rob's video and his seemed very loud.

The movement is louder than other movements that I have tested, that is truth, but I don't think that it is so bad that you couldn't wear the watch.

That is just how Miyota 9015's rotor acts. The reason you will hear it more because of the thin case.

This is called a sterile dial and conforms to RAF and USAAF specifications for pilot watches of the period. Printing or logos of any sort were prohibited as potentially distracting. You can easily find pilot watches with branded dials but they are less authentic and are somewhat looked down on by collectors.

This is actually Luftwaffe specification, some of the RAF watches from WWII did have printed logo, for example those made by Omega, but here no logo is the way to go IMO. Thanks for commenting!

I stand to be corrected, of course, but I believe the early RAF (Royal Flying Corps up to 1918) requirements did specify a sterile dial. I'll do some research and get back to you. Thanks.

I’m not sure who “the line” is, but the original had no printing of any kind on the dial. So the watch is true to the original.

You are probably looking at wrong model, it is on Tisell site fro $199.

it's for the same model. apparently there are 2 different sites (both owned by Tisell), and they have different prices as well.

As far as I understand it, one site is the original website from Southkorea (that's the one with prices in USD), the other website is from their Europe-based distributor (the one with prices in €). It's true that prices are generally quite a lot lower on the original website, but remember that you will probably have to pay customs duties when importing from Southkorea, which may not necessarily be the case when you purchase from the European-based distributor. Anyway, don't quote me on all of that, it's just the way I understood it. I purchased from the original Southkorea-based website. :)
