I love it. I tried cutting the roots around the stump and then digging with a bucket but the dirt was too soft and I sunk the tractor. The stump is old but it just did not want to let go. I love your attachment and you did a nice job. This stump of mine will one day give up the ghost. A stump grinder is the real answer.

What size tractor is that and hp? Looks a bit bigger than the L series kubota I have! I’d imagine the bigger the tractor the faster a larger stump could be removed! Good video tho…I’ve got a few pine stumps to remove but I don’t have a stump bucket! I’ve got a back hoe which would probably take longer than a stump bucket ..
@skiffintherift9179 Жыл бұрын
best one of these of seen yet is that home made Rhino Ripper way faster and a fraction of the abuse to the loader. I can't justify the time gas and abuse to the tractor when they rent mini back hoes for 1k a week near me can clear a whole yard in that time.

Wrong tool for the job! Get an excavator! Or a stump grinder from WoodLand Mills! Just because they send you a free attachment doesn't morally obligate you to endorse it! That POS WILL damage a farm tractor! Just be honest with your viewers! It's a damaging unit! Like putting steel tracks on a rubber tired skid steer! The bearings can't handle the extra load/resistance! Just buy the stump grinder!
@mueckenhoeffer4 жыл бұрын
Well, it got the job done, but that seems like a ton of work you did for one relatively small stump. It seems like a backhoe would have been a better tool, but I've been wrong before.
@HamiltonvilleFarm4 жыл бұрын
Definitely has its place. I wouldn't recommend it on stumps that have deep tap toots. But shallow root systems it works great.
@CamppattonFamilyCompound4 жыл бұрын
Nice attachment you got there. I still like my backhoe attachment to dig out stumps.
@HamiltonvilleFarm4 жыл бұрын

@ED-es2qv Жыл бұрын
I heard a bucket operator say the most powerful way to dig or lift is to jam the bucket between the rock and the ground and rotate the bucket to pry only between the ground and rock , not using the tractor arms to take the force. Like stomping a shovel in and prying down instead of lifting the dirt out with your arms. You get more force for less wear and tear. You might try (or you might have already and it didn’t help) when the tires start to spin, rotate the bucket upward to loosen the root, then back down to get further.
@KyJack138 күн бұрын
@@ED-es2qv he’s right. I do this with my excavator and it’s faster and takes less effort from the machine. Always reminds me out popping a tooth out.

Just another thing to remember. Pine roots go down, oak roots go out. Remembering that will also give you an idea of how you need to approach a stump. I think it worked better on the oak stump. Gotta love water oaks, every time we split fresh oak for firewood water comes out of it. If it’s a water oak. Hence the name lol.

if you try again... don't do run in lines start on the far side and press the attachment straight down and in than articulate the bucket back down to level. than lift out. re do same spot as deep as possible .then back up and do it again. it's faster to work doing backward than forward

Thanks for the Demo It was very well made Showing how to work the Stump Bucket with the tractor movement to cut through the roots was great We have rental properties and it seems We get at least one LARGE tree a year to take down but have stumps left We have a 2019 Kubota L-2501 with 25 HP or less and will have it paid off September 2023. Looking at getting a stump grinder for the 3 point soon, but I have been curious about Stump Buckets or Root Rippers I really liked the videos showing the Large Excavators with the Saw Tooth Rhino looking Ripper Blades that just push/saw the stump from the top downward with crushing force They appear to split and crumble I don't think a Small Tractor like Mine has the weight or power to just rip a stump apart Maybe a long Ripper Tooth could penetrate the perimeter of the root system and saw through them I have not found anything except the B-Xpanded Ripper for a Backhoe Thanks Ken in Florida

Hey Hank! I have the 4540 tractor and about 150 pine trees I am clearing. I thought about a stump bucket for the stump removal but was concerned that with that many stumps I might burn thru too many tractor clutches with all of the back and forth. Same thoughts regarding a 3pt hitch stump grinder, a lot of slow back and forth motions. Any thoughts?
@HamiltonvilleFarm Жыл бұрын
For pines? Neither. Two roots are too big for the stump bucket and a stump grinder on a clutch driven machine doesn’t work great. I did a video putting the grinder on the 4540 and it will definitely wear your left leg out:)
