I purchased through Ben and had nothing but grief! My kit arrived missing half of the cables it was supposed to come with. The solar panels did not operate at adequate levels even in optimal environment, and he ignored me. The battery charger was whining and making weird noises. He said ‘sometimes they do that’. UNBELIEVABLE!! He told me one battery would be adequate in my climate, but I had to order a second battery. Thank goodness TITAN stands behind its products, and a friend knew how to replace ALL the circuit boxes on my solar panels. Now my system works.

I LOVE MY TITAN with 4 batteries, tied to 2 sets of 654 watt panel sets (total of 1,308 watt capability), running a 12,000 BTU window A/C unit that cools and dehumidifies the entire first floor of my house. I keep the the A/C unit on ECO mode and temp set to 74 F. I also run a dorm size fridge on the Titan as well and it keeps up with this in Maryland so far.... This is saving me roughly $200 per month in cooling costs while using my whole house heat pump system!!! LOVING IT!!!!

I joined the Titan Family in September of 2020. Started with the 500 but now i am currently at 1500 with 3 batteries. Soon I do plan on upgrading one more time to 2000 with 4 batteries. I have it plugged to my RV 24/7. Keep the unit outside in a wood enclosure. Overall i am pretty happy only issue i had was when the unit AC inverter popped in October of last year. However they fixed it and had it back to me within two weeks great customer service. The only thing they said after they fixed it was to not use it while it charges through Sure (AC) power. Solar is fine just don’t charge it through the AC port while pulling a load. I bring it up because you mention this in in your Q&A 13:28

I’ve had the original/current Titan for about 8 months now and love it! Sure I had to wait a couple of months to get it, but what do you expect in the middle of a global pandemic and the SHTF prepper urge? At least PZE is up front about it before you order. I have 3 of the batteries stacked up and 2500 watts of solar (limited to 2000 input) coming in. I ran dedicated circuits to my garage freezer, two indoor refrigerator/freezers, and my home security and wi-fi router. When we got the PG&E power safety shutoffs I added extension cords to also run coffee maker, microwave, computers and entertainment for the whole family. The battery runs everything at night, and the solar recharges the battery and runs the loads during the day. I’ve only had to use a wall charger a few times so far when we had multiple days of dark, cloudy weather. I’m very impressed with the system. The upcoming new system sounds great too, and I might upgrade for some of the features. For example, I’d feel better with LiFePo batteries in my garage.

I bought my Titan 1500 during it's initial rollout, receiving it Jan 2020 with the purpose of powering my 50 amp 5th wheel RV when not connected to shore power. I was just starting out RVing and January was not the best time to get out on the road. So, I spent the next 3 months learning all about it and using it for little things around the house for just a short period of time. Then took it out on a 7,000 mile road trip. The Titan performed as expected; even powering my RV's AC. The biggest obstacle was the long charging time after draining the batteries; especially with solar. That's because I didn't have a good setup for capturing the sun. Also, the panel is confusing to me while charging because it seems like it's not doing anything for the longest time. Tech support got me straightened out as to my misunderstanding. At any rate, I'm going to buy "your favorite case" to carry my 10 panels and build 2 stands to see how long I can easily stay off-grid while on the road. I suppose I could put them on the roof, but I've got a real aversion to putting wholes on a RV roof. =-(

You remark that the Titan can not be charged from an alternator -- not true. For example, in a marine/powerboat application (same for vans/motorhomes),the Titan can be charged while underway by incorporating a DC to DC charger (Victron Orion TR-Smart Isolated 12/24-20). The unit gets installed between the vehicle battery and the Titan AC charger input. The boat's engine alternator charges the ship's batteries, which in turn charge the Titan. Very effective and easy to install. .
@brucebugbee6604
@brucebugbee6604 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I too use an Orion 12/24 DC-DC converter to charge the Titan through the AC charger input while I'm towing my RV. I installed a dedicated 30A charging circuit to the back of my truck with an Anderson connector and ran a matching Anderson connector circuit on my trailer to the compartment with the Titan under my bed in the trailer. The Orion DC-DC converter makes 15 amps at 24 volts (360 watts) simply driving down the road, sun or no sun.

I run a 2kw PS inverter powering two wall chargers (AC) detuned to about 450w each while driving (220Amp alternator). 200W solar on roof. Peak charging (permissible) of about 1kw charges from 20 to 90% in 1.5hrs driving. Inefficient, yes indeed... works very well though.

However, it didn’t have the inline c/b as recommended. The 150A inline c/b appears to have a history of prematurely popping. Do you think it would be okay to use a cable w/o the c/b installed? I hate to cut into a ‘finished’ cable to insert a c/b that may make the connection ineffective.

Or does it have some kind of mechanism that handles that kind of situation and keeps running once the batteries get charged up enough again? You can see my worry, which is the titan shuts off and is not supplying the cabin with electricity while I am not there to manually restart things. Thanks for any info, kevin

So, I ordered the ep500 pro but I have a few days I can still cancel it... thing is the titan batteries are rated for less life than the ep500 batteries are rated. Like they can't cycle as many times before they die. Besides the ability to dismantle and easily be transported what advantages does the titan hold over the ep500?
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
A lot of people compare cycles, and that's fair, but in my opinion not very important. Think about it, if you have 2,000 cycles, and did 1 full cycle per day (which is not common) it would take (2,000 ÷ 365) 5.5 years before you'd reach the point that those 2,000 cycles were reached. And at that point the unit is not dead, it's at 80% efficiency, so it's still very usable. The point is, ONLY in a permanent off grid set up or the end of the world would you need to actually be concerned about cycles. If you're preparing the be without grid power for over 5 years, then having over 2,000 cycles matters. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't want more cycles if I could have them, but I am saying that basing the decision off of that feature is less important. I will be getting an EP 500 Pro to test and use but in the end, unless you ABSOLUTELY need the 240v power, it's not really worth it because the EP500 Pro can only go up to 10.2kwh battery capacity, whereas the Titan can easily go more than that, technically up to 270kwh. The Titan already has 2,000w solar input and the EP 500 Pro has 2,400w input, so not much of a difference. I'm not saying the EP 500 Pro is bad, I think it's definitely a good unit, but I dislike how much it weighs, I can't expand the battery more, and it has the same size inverter. It's huge pro is that it can double together and make 240v. So I personally would only get it for that reason, to have 240v capability. If I can do without that, then I would go with the Titan. Just my thoughts. I'll have a video on this once I get my EP 500 Pro delivered.

@@minutemanprep okay, do you know if the new titan 2.0 be able to use the same batteries as the titan 1, I really would like to stretch my money's worth. I have an off grid cabin in texas and would rely 100% off the titan or the ep500, the 6000 cycles are appealing but I trust the titans ratings due to their honestly. I also like how the titan can be dismantled and moved. The ep500 is a behemoth but I was an early adopter and got it for $3,700 where the titan and 2 batteries are around $4,400 with less life cycles. But the ability to dismantle and be moved around the ep500 eats at energy at stand by does the titan do the same? I heard you say the titan can be over paneled without issues can the ep500 do that or only the titan? Boy this is a hard decision thanks.

@@noctilucent7396 I have asked MAXOAK about over paneling and they haven't gotten back to me. Their service is hit and miss, usually good. The Titan 1 and 2.0 will have different batteries so they are not cross compatible. But, Point Zero did announce the 2.0 is hopefully launching in the fall. You could easily purchase a Titan 1 now and then request that your order simply be used towards the 2.0 when it is ready to ship out and that way you'll have the best of both worlds. You won't wait much longer for the Titan 2.0 than you would for the EP 500 Pro and you'll get the 240v capability of the Titan 2.0 but still be far more expandable and portable than the Ep 500 Pro

Sorry no, you cannot use 240v power to charge the battery. Pure sine wave only refers to power coming out of the Titan, not going in. If you're talking about charging the Titan from another power source other than the grid with the AC wall charger, then you want that to be pure sine wave as well.

Hi Rhonda, I know your question is for Ben but maybe I can answer it until he responds. There are no emf emissions from Lithium or other batteries like alkaline considering they only store "chemical" energy (electrolyte) WITHOUT a completed circuit, and does not provide electricity i.e like homes which emit certain levels of emf's. Because of lithium ion chemistry they do not emit radiation, so you are completely safe if you choose a setup like Ben did in his trailer. Hope that helps.

Gr8tD3cepti0n is right, there is no EMF From batteries. But there can be EMF off of the inverter, but I don't know how much. If it helps at all, I have slept many night with my Titan right next to me and have not felt anything different and I am fully aware of EMF radiation. Also, for well over a year now I have had one of my other Titans at my cabin where hundreds of people have slept right next to it and have never had a single complaint about not feeling well or anything like that while sleeping next and being around the Titan. So I believe it is very safe to say that it's safe to be around.

The main reason I am about to buy a solar generator (the Titan) is to be prepared for a disaster situation in which - for whatever reason - I am without power for such as a year or more. I know you said in your video that you recommend the rigid panels because they last longer than the flex panels, but what about a situation in which we would need to charge the Titan every day and we would have to take 20 solar panels in & out of our house every day? Would you still recommend rigid panels in that situation? Or would you instead recommend flex panels, due to those panels being much thinner and light-weight? Or, are the benefits of the rigid panels still worth it, even if we would have to take them in & out of the house each day (versus taking the flex panels in & out of the house each day)?
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
For me I still prefer the Rigid 100 even for taking them in and out every day. But, you do have the option if you order through poweredportablesolar.com/shop/ to mix and match the panels. Say for example you're getting the Titan 1000 kit, you can get 5 Rigid 100 and 5 Flesx 100. Either way, I still like the Rigid 100. But that doesn't mean the Flexx 100 are bad panels, you just have to be mindful of them is all. I hope my videos and answers have helped you and that you'll consider purchasing through my site so I can continue helping others and plus you'll get free bonuses in the Powered Portable Solar kits that you don't get anywhere else.

What’s your thoughts on the inergy flex 1500?
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
I have a post on that unit here: poweredportablesolar.com/how-does-the-inergy-flex-solar-generator-stack-up-against-the-rest/ I ordered one and I hope to get it sooner than later. I was supposed to have it over 7 months ago. Here's the breakdown though: The Flex has a 1,500w inverter and the Titan has a 3,000w inverter. The Flex can draw 1,500w of power from 100% down to 20% (According to Inergy but untested and unverified). The Titan can draw 3,000w of power until 0% (tested and verified). The Flex has stackable 1,069wh batteries (realistically 1,000wh at best) and the Titan has 2,000wh batteries (can actually use 2,000wh from it). The Flex can add solar input of 600w per charge controller added (realistically 500w likely, again untested and unverified) and the Titan can input up to 2,000w of solar (tested and verified). The Flex batteries have around 500 lifecycles and the Titan batteries have 2,000 lifecycles. Inergy said their previous models could output 1,500w of power from the inverter and still have 2,000 cycles and that simply wasn't true as you can see in my Apex review video. My biggest issue with the Flex is that you will end up paying the same for it as you would a Titan but get 1/2 the inverter power. Titan has 3,000w inverter, 2,000wh battery, 1,000w solar input (goes to 2,000w solar input with two or more batteries without having to purchase additional charge controllers) = $2,995 Flex has 1,500w inverter, 1,000wh battery, 500w solar input. Add one more battery for 2,000wh total and one more charge controller for 1,000w solar input total and the cost is $2,650 (presale pricing) or $2,950 (standard pricing). So you can see for the Flex to match the battery capacity and solar input of the Titan the cost difference is $45 for normal pricing. So for $45 more, you can have twice the inverter with 4x the battery life and it ships sooner than the Flex. If you add an extra battery to the Titan you'd have: Titan with 3,000w inverter, 4,000wh battery capacity, and 2,000w solar input. = $4,390 If you had a Flex with the same battery and solar input capacity as a Titan with an extra battery you'd have: Flex with 1,500w inverter, 4,000wh battery (3 additional to original) and 2,000w solar input (3 additional charge controllers to original) = $5,800 at normal pricing. So especially when it comes to expanding it down the road it will cost you $1,460 more to match what the Titan with 1 extra battery can do. This means that not only is the Titan better in almost every way but also saves A TON of money. I hope I didn't make this too long but hopefully, you can see why I still greatly prefer the Titan over the Flex by a LONG shot.

I just got an email from PointZero identifying their new product line. I'm quite pleased with my Titan v1. However, the new AC chargers sound like a good upgrade as well as the new solar panels with built in stand (did they listen to you on that one also...hehehe). At any rate, I'm sure you're on the front line to be allowed to test them and show them off for us. From a person who got in line from the very beginning, I'd like to know which of the upgrades would be worth upgrading. Titan 1500 (2 battery, 15 solar panel setup...although I'm only carrying 10 at the moment)...considering one of the more powerful AC charges and a couple of the new 200W 2-panel setups...leaving my 5-panel stand that I just finished building at home to safe space, weight. What do you think?

@@minutemanprep 1. If I can sell my 100W panels that came with the 1500 to get a couple of dual 200W panels . 2. Would the new more powerful AC charger really make a difference in charging time given I'm only running 400-500W's of solar vs the original that came with the 1500?
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
@@larrycox6614 I personally wouldn't do either of those things because 1, two 100w panels make the same amount of power and take up the same amount of space as one 200w panel, so nothing is really gained by swapping them out. 2, the faster-charging wall charger is nice but truly not a necessity so I would just stick with what you have already. That's just what I would do personally.

Hi Ben I hope you will forgive me if I asked this question before. I am within days now of purchasing a solar array of panels for my Titan Solar Generator. Currently it's running on two 1500 watt batteries. I am leaning towards eight 325 watt Canadian Solar batteries to power my off grid tiny cabin. My issue is Titan support team are kind enough to show me how these can be hooked up but are not able to go as far as to say that this is a good idea and that the titan won't have issues with these panels. I can go with the Point Zero solar panels like that come with their kits, which I have no problem with but at only 100watts each that is about 24 of them to achieve what I want to do with the bigger panels. Namely having a more uniform/compact solar set up. I would sure appreciate some advice on this. Thanks!
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
You can use any panel that has MC4 connectors which is 99% of solar panels. You simply must stay within the charge parameter of each charge controller which is 35-145v and 30a. As long as your panels are wired in a way that stays within those parameters they will work perfectly fine. See here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWbbpZysZbmdetE&t Keep in mind that each solar charge controller will only allow up to 1,000w of power in even if you have more than 1,000w of power being created.

I've heard that the LifePo4 batteries are safer than other battery types and less likely to catch on fire. However, I noticed that the Titan does not use a LifePo4 battery, but instead it uses a Lithium NMC battery. If I buy a Titan and - for example - have it running at its full wattage capacity every night while I am sleeping, is it a concern that its Lithium NMC battery could catch on fire at some point while I (and my family) are sleeping?
@minutemanprep
@minutemanprep 3 жыл бұрын
No it's not a concern. I get what you're saying but running at 3,000 continuously all night while sleeping would mean you would have 15 batteries (30,000wh) which is not likely. The batteries have heat sensors in them for safety.

well damn; I thought I had done my research and decided to pull the trigger on an Inergy Flex but now I have more the think about. It seems like the titan more configurable. I especially like that you can over panel so easily with the system. The Inergy requires some massaging to your panel array to do that [parallel vs series]. I also like that there doesn't seem to be any proprietary connectors. The price is a little higher but so are the stats. as I started so I'll finish, well damn EDIT: subbed and belled

OH boy oh boy oh boy. The Flex 1500. I have had one on order for over a year, I am anxiously awaiting it. I got an extra battery and extra charge controller for it too. But, the Titan still beats the Flex by a long shot including price, power and expandability. The bottom line is to make the Flex 1500 as powerful as a Titan you have to spend $1400 more than you would on just getting a Titan.
@humansustainability
@humansustainability 3 жыл бұрын
@@minutemanprep I think a tad more than $1400. I mean an extra flex bat to bring it to even cap at 2kW for $1k. Then an additional MPPT controller to get up to 1200w is that's another $500, then the panels at $250 ea so for a full series array with an additional MPPT is $2k... so equivalent to the titan500 I mean... damn... well damn. I don't even get the boss inverter for $2k more. I think I made an error.
