When i think of Titane? Which i have not seen yet...i think of endurance. Given the plot, it seems like titanium is a motif for endurance and resilience.

Shallow. Oversimplified. Bad story. Bad directing.

I don’t know … indiscriminate killing of, among other, a girlfriend and parents, lying to everyone without any good reason and zero empathy and reflection is a bad combination for a resilient person as to my taste. There is nothing heroic for the protagonist to overcome on the screen except surviving the car crash, which she caused as much as her father did. I think the film fails completely as depiction of unconditional love as well. The protagonist has no love to anyone, including the child in the womb. She is with fireman because she needs to hide from the crime scene and almost kills him. Humiliates him in front of his coworkers by dancing like a wh0re. Both stick to each other because they have no other option, almost as if they are last people on earth. That is the lowest form of love. My takeaway from the film is that a broken and mentally flawed person can only produce the same breed, half human half machine with oil instead of blood and software instead of a soul. Gender fluidity is just a hot topic for extra hype (critics and polite society love it too).

I loved the movie but I also love how you formed your opinion. I can see what you mean about their relationship being "the lowest form of love." An attachment formed from desperation and loneliness ... is that really love? And while I do love the story of her having to live as a boy, esp after living as someone who performs a very glamorous form of femininity, I think the "gender fluidity" angle that so many media outlets discuss does not do any justice to the transformation that Alexia's character goes through.
