And even though I am a 26 year old guy, I am not embarrassed to tell my friends the sadness and sorrow this movie made me feel. A piece of art, for which I will always be grateful. The 1st Class dinner scene also shows a bit of the social dynamic between the rich people amongst themselves if you look closely. Except for Ruth and Carl, all of them are very polite to Jack and are won over by his charm and honesty. It sure helps that thanks to Molly he was able to show up looking just as much dapper as any rich gentlemen, thus allowing him to blend in effortlessly, leading many to imagine he might have been a railway baron's heir or something like that. The main difference in treatment is between those who have class as well as money and those who have just the latter and none of the former. The Countess of Rothes, Benjamin Guggenheim, J.J. Astor and Colonel Gracie qualify as "old money" in various degrees, and one of their traits is the lack of need to affirm their status constantly, which is usually a sign that you're not all that to begin with ("Any man who must say 'I'm the king' is no true king" and all that). They can afford to be more chill and entertain the company of people like Jack in very special circumstances because they know this won't be seen as they "downgrading" themselves while living a kind of stylized modesty, at least in bearing and manners. Ruth, meanwhile, has only her late husband's name, literally running on fumes of a "good name" and pimping her daughter to get out of the poorhouse. All that is left for her is haughtiness. When the 1st Class ladies first met Jack face to face in the promenade deck, Rose tells "the others seemed interested and grateful about the man who saved me", except for Ruth. While Molly is the one to point out (in a subtle way) that Jack has something in his face (he was teaching Rose how to "spit like a man"), the other ladies don't make mention of it but don't laugh or ridicule him either, and are very attentive to Rose when she tells them about Jack's heroism. As for the men, (again, save for Cal) Gracie is the one who also suggested that Cal should at least ACKNOWLEDGE Jack (strongly hinting at a financial reward) since he, you know, saved his fianceé's life, enthusiastically responds to Jack's life phylosophy (first by giving his own two cents about life itself being a game of luck, and then saying "Hear, hear!" when Jack finishes his reply to Ruth) and invites him for brandy in the Smoking Room following the meal. This also shows later as the movies progresses: Mr. Andrews is also completly chill with Jack, making absolutely no fuzz about Jack being severely undressed while looking for Rose when he passes by him in the Grand Staircase. Must be because Andrews worked hard and earned his station in life and probably saw in Jack the very same men without whom his ship wouldn't ever left the drawing table. Cal and Molly represent polar opposites of the "new money" type. Molly is from the FIRST generation of new money, thus she knew both hardship and privilege, thus being able to relate and empathize with poor people because she was one of them not a few years ago. She dresses impecably and knows the ins and outs of high society but keeps some "unladylike" traits such as carrying her own luggage when the steward seems to be to slow and showing one of the crew members how to roam the lifeboat properly, demonstrating in a vigorous way. Cal the SECOND generation, who was born into money but didn't inherited work ethics or common sense: even when he tips a Southampton steward a pretty penny and suggests that $20 is fine for Jack's heroic deed (corrected by inflation, it IS some money), these moments of "nicety" might shown a lack of financial discipline. As for his social graces, he is very much like Ruth in the sense of looking down on poor people, but for a sense of superiority given his fortune instead of compensation for having only a surname to worm his way into high society despite being broke, like Ruth and the British aristocrats who allowed Americans within their lineage in exchange of their money (the "Dollar Princesses", as it was mostly American debutantes marrying the sons of British gentry).

Why did Rose 🌹 deliberately drop the diamond 💎 named "the heart of the ocean" in to the Atlantic ocean? 101 years old Rose 🌹 was very intelligent Reasoning: 1. As the name suggests "the heart of the ocean" 2. Exploration of Titanic 🚢 must not be stopped. Keep digging, come up with new stories. Keep Titanic alive for centuries, Cult like followers.
@dlucey1232 жыл бұрын
My theory is that she never forgot her true love disappearing and sinking down to the bottom of the ocean, she kept the diamond for a long time to remember him by but eventually realised that her heart had gone out to him and it belonged with him at the bottom of the ocean. That way he wouldn’t be alone, her heart didn’t belong with gold diggers desperate to retrieve that jewel. Your theories could be right, that’s just mine.

Jack’s outlook on life was a breath of fresh air to Rose. He was the polar opposite of her class-wise. Rose had lived a spoiled, pampered existence her whole life while Jack took whatever life threw at him and rolled with it. What I wonder about though is if this outlook would have stood the test of time in terms of their relationship if Jack had lived. Rose was used to luxury and comfort. That’s all she had known growing up. All Jack had known was struggling with little to no money and making the best of his situation no matter what. Yes Rose was clearly infatuated and over the moon for him, but they had only known each other for 2 days and their relationship was very much in the honeymoon phase. Obviously it was cut short so prematurely due to his tragic death, but had it not been and he had survived along with Rose, would they have lasted as a couple beyond the disaster? That’s the big question.
@HWDragonborn16 күн бұрын
