Please enjoy this full version. This is the song the band played before the Titanic sank.
"Sometime around 2.10 a.m. as the Titanic began settling more quickly into the icy North Altantic, the sounds of ragtime, familiar dance tunes and popular waltzes that had floated reassuringly across her decks suddenly stopped as Bandmaster Wallace Hartley tapped his bow against his violin. Hartley and his musicians, all wearing their lifebelts now, were standing back at the base of the second funnel, on the roof of the First Class Lounge, where they had been playing for the better part of an hour. There were a few moments of silence, then the solemn strains of the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee" began drifting across the water. It was with a perhaps unintended irony that Hartley chose a hymn that pleaded for the mercy of the Almighty, as the ultimate material conceit of the Edwardian Age, the ship that "God Himself couldn't sink," foundered beneath his feet. As the band played, the slant of the deck grew steeper, while from within the hull came a rapidly increasing number of thuds, bangs and crashes as interior furnishings broke loose, walls and partitions collapsed--the Titanic was only moments from breaking apart."

You know, the saddest part of all of this was the background story behind all of this. the violinist was supposed to be married on the return trip, and his fiance gave him the violin he played on. The inscription was about their love. When the boat began to sink, he had the chance to get on a rescue boat, bit turned it down because of so many others who weren't going to be able to be saved. He played this song with his men right up until the Titanic sank. He then put away his violin in the case and held on to it as the boat submerged. A couple months later, the violin was found, and returned to the fiance, who passed it down to her ancestors. it was recently rediscovered in an attic and sold for $1.7 million dollars.

I have this sad feeling wen I listen to this but everything that happened to the Titanic that night was planned by God for a reason and the covid 19 is for a reason My opinion is to make people believe that there there is a God My aunt told m my aunt told me that there was a man who who did not believe in God until he got the virus the doctor said they could not do anything but then one night he heard someone coming in his room if for some reason he new it was God Then he felt someone lying on top of him you could hardly breathe and then it went away he could breathe properly he knew it was God and the next morning he told the doctor that what happened last night and he was cured from coronavirus God is amazing

Titanic has always been my favorite movie, and I remember one time I was watching it and my grandfather was in another room. I was learning to play the violin at the time, and when this scene played I heard him humming it from the other room. He came to my room and asked if it was me playing it, saying it was the most beautiful rendition he'd ever heard. I told him it was just the movie, and that my violin was in my closet. He died a month later, and I dropped my lessons. Ever since then I've regretted it, and I'm going to start playing again so I can learn to play this, even if it's the only song I know, if for no other reason than I want to be able to play it for him just once.

R. Kidd Actually, he was the person who sunk the Titanic, he got into the control room while the captain was sleeping with his mother, then he hallucinated a talking pizza roll who told him to drive the ship into an iceberg. But as the ship was sinking, aliens came in and shot the ship in half with lasers, (even though the ship was already sinking) which is why the ship was found in two halves. Oh, and Rick Berman.

2:51 so eery and sad to the bow of the great ship, laying there silently at the bottom of the ocean. Never to see daylight again, never to be raised, decaying quickly. To think of all the drama which unfolded in under 3 hours, on that night in 1912. People terrified as their enormous ship sank deeper into freezing cold water. The people's remains are all gone now, but the great ship's body remains on the dark ocean floor. RIP Titanic and all your passengers and crew.

Imagine the ship slowly sinking under you, you look down and see that cold black ocean slowly reaching towards you, there is absolutely nowhere to go, all you can do is to feel death approach. You take a look around, see all the panic and helplessness, look at the stars for the last time, take your violin and bow, close your eyes and play to keep your mind off of it. May the 1,517 souls lost on the board of the Titanic rest in peace in heaven.

I recently visited the Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Wallace Hartley's violin - the most expensive Titanic artifact of all time - was on display. They have an entire room dedicated to the band. Any Titanic fan owes it to themselves to visit that museum.

the fact that this song was played all the way to the miserable end to the Titanic really shows that the true heros are these musicians that played this song to try and comfort the fearfull passengers that sailed to their death on April 15, 1912. So i just want to tell you that when you hear this song, know that it was all for the brave men, women, and children that lay on the bottom of the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Rest in Peace Titanic, your legacy will go on, and so will the lost passegers. 🚢

I cry everytime I hear this song, knowing that people on the ship knew they were going to die. It was a very spiritual time for many aboard, even among all the chaos. Lots of people just sang this song knowing that soon they would be with Jesus. The Titanic story is so tragic
@thomasanderson5929

Actually a lot of them didn't know what was coming for them until they noticed there were no lifeboats left. They didn't think the Titanic would actually sink along with the mass hysteria and confusion of the situation, some didn't even want to get on a lifeboat as the very thought of getting on one so high from the water past midnight was in itself a scary ordeal. In the end, many of them thought they still had a chance to when they saw lifeboats but once they were all gone, that's when the fear of death on a sinking ship set in. 1,500 people still on board.

This song will forever be associated with the Titanic tragedy, yet some contend that it was not played as the ship sank. A few survivors (who have all passed away) say the music played was much more upbeat, but lets look at the facts. Nearer My God To Thee was the favorite hymn of King Edward VII and of the Titanic's band leader Wallace Hartley. Hartley had said many time that he wanted this played at his own funeral. So to me it is clear that this song was indeed played as the Titanic sank.

Archibald Gracie stated it was a song he did not recognise. He also mentioned that it was a cheerful piece. This is not a cheerful piece. Nearer my god to thee would likely have caused panic among the passengers. Songe d'automne is a more likely candidate.

My late grandfather grew up in Chestnut Hill in Pennsylvania, which, along with the Main Line, is one of the wealthiest areas of the entire U.S.A. His father, my great-grandfather, was a very privileged man, who had status amongst the wealthy elite of the time. When this movie came out in 1997, I was so fascinated by the story of the Titanic that my grandfather told me about how his father, my great grandfather, knew one of the wealthiest families on the ship, the Ryersons, the Lehigh Valley steel tycoons. My grandfather recalled my great grandfather's stories about playing polo and swimming at the Pennlynn Club in Gwenyedd Valley, Pennsylvania, with them, and how much of a shock it was for my great grandfather when Mr. Ryerson, the patron of Ryerson University in Bryn Mawr, did not survive the sinking. My grandfather didn't know much more, because, understandably, my great grandfather never talked about it much.

I wish people wouldn't keep stealing from the wreck. For everything that the submersible takes to the surface, It has to leave something in equal weight behind. They have left everything from plastic cups to iron chains. The deck is crumbling and the stairwell is collapsing. Soon there will be no Titanic. Why speed up the process? Taking shoes and clothes, not knowing they have stole it off a corpse that is no longer there. Leave it alone. If people want to see what a white star line cup looks like. *Take a picture*. If people want to see that the Gym equipment looks like, *Take a picture*. If people want to see what the hull looks like, *Take a picture*.

if someone is dead wouldn't you take everything off them before burial no matter how they died because no one has eternal life and by takin things out and putting them in museums, it is again reminding us of how innocent people died and there was such event. it's not that big deal and it's long since forgotten. thats my opinion

Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee; E’en though it be a cross That raiseth me, Still all my song shall be Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. Though, like a wanderer, The sun gone down, Darkness comes over me, My rest a stone; Yet in my dreams I’d be Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. There let me see the sight, An open heaven; All that Thou sendest me, In mercy given; Angels to beckon me Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee. Then, with my waking thoughts Bright with Thy praise, Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise, So by my woes to be Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee.

This song makes me feel so sad for the victims of the titanic. They’re still their as they were over a hundred years ago, at the bottom of the ocean by the ship that brought about their deaths. Time has moved on but they haven’t, they will always remain not in a quiet grave for their families and descendants to visit but somewhere far out in the Atlantic ocean, lonely and barren aside from the water. They were people, who had hopes, dreams, loves, hates, fears etc...and in one fatal accident so many of them lost all that and are gone now
