The story goes that Henry Ford and his family emigrated from Cobh for America. The night before they left, they stayed at a sort of boarding house ironically located on ‘Fair Lane’, which was later used as a Ford Company car model name. Henry and his wife went so far as to name their estate Fair Lane.
