No problem Mike. Many people walk past this dock and have no idea how what it was for. lol If only they would stop and read the escellent education/information boards.

Tom, the gate go to the east side, slide. the railings need be dropped. There is a tunnel, small, on the west side dock from pump house to near gate. Used be steam Crain, was lucky ! maybe last see in action out side pump station. needed fix over head cable so in `bucket` and travel towards end so get fix. what an experience, was about age 18. The dock is a `stepping dry dock` are others.

Up and out early this morning Tom, beautiful morning and I appreciate the time and dedication you take to entertain and explain the history of our lovely wee town to me and especially your subscribers who have never been to Belfast or Northern Ireland, you are doing a grand job mate and promoting tourism more than anyone else in Belfast ( even though you might not realise it )

Ryan Darcy Thanks so much Ryan, I actually enjoy doing all this filming because it gives everyone both near and far a small window that they might not ever have seen through, into something or beauty, worth, history, interest. I have learned so much of what is round and about in Belfast by doing it. -And I have only just started! It's been the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I want to go a lot further than East Belfast, central Belfast and Titanic. I realise that I'm becoming a real bore because I manage to bring my excursions/videos into most conversations with friends and new people! lol

Hey Hayden k, I do a lot of amateur historical videos in and around Belfast and I made one a few years back about a local address, Houston Drive Belfast, that was named after the Houston family who lived there in the early 1700s. The descendants of these same Houstons eventually ended up in America. This is where the family relations of famous Sam Houston of Texas fame came from! KZbin video Houston Drive Belfast and Houston Texas kzbin.info?ar=2&o=U&video_id=EoP7KMwoRLk A large number of American presidents have their family roots in Ulster/Northern Ireland. Belfast Newsletter article Wednesday 16 March 2016 East Tennessee celebrates iconic Ulster-Scot Sam Houston www.newsletter.co.uk/news/east-tennessee-celebrates-iconic-ulster-scot-sam-houston-1-7277865 Your name is interesting too. Hayden is a given name in the English language. The name is variant of the given name Haydn, which is derived from the surname Haydn in honour of composer Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). The surname Haydn originated as a respelling of the nickname Heiden, meaning "heathen". The name is derived from the Middle High German heiden, and from the Old High German heidano. Sorry if i'm boring you! lol Best wishes

@@TomMcClean wow. I didn't know any of that! You do good work. I've been to northern Ireland. I was there around the turn of the millennium. Foot and mouth disease was rampant but it didnt stop me from believing nothern ireland is one of the most beautiful places ive ever been to. I have a beautiful picture of my mother and I at the cliffs of Fairhead. Cheers

fun fact, the gate was constructed around the same time as the titanic, same iron etc. The gate itself has been turned around so the side facing into the dock now used to be submerged in water until the new gate was constructed in recent years. That means that the iron you can see and touch today was submerged in sea water for more or less the same amount of time as the Titanic itself so if you raised the Titanic today, that's what it would look and feel like after a century of corrosion.

Hello again Henriek. My friend Peter McCabe is the man to contact on Belfast Polish graves. He is an encyclopedia on Belfast graveyards, so much so that he now runs his own KZbin channel. It is called 'Peter McCabe's Memorable Memorials.' Here's a video you might want to see.
