They instantly turned this into a White vs Black thing and never once mentioned that Ran Carthon the new GM for the Titans is Black all while having their heads firmly planted in Vrabels back side. Vrabel coached like it was the 1970's and hired his Buddies to be Coordinators. He was loyal to his friends but not the team. I can understand Keyshawn talking garbage, because he's just a talking head, but Sherman is smarter than this.

Okay but with that same argument of you can't give Callahan credit for Burrow or Stafford's development, then you can't sit there and give EB credit for Mahomes' development. You can't have it one way but not the another. Titans hired a first time, black GM last offseason. He had major input in this HC hiring since they are going to be working hand in hand to build the roster. This is the wrong organization to go after. How many other NFL orgs do you know that are hiring black, first time GMs? Now we just want to question Ran's input on his HC hiring because EB isn't a head coach? Cmon now.

His mindset and priorities lined up perfectly with the direction that our owner Amy Strunk wants to head in. We had Vrabel and he was clearly an old school defensive minded head coach. Mr. Callahan is the opposite, young, new school, offense minded. Maybe he isn't the flashiest candidate out there, but he was the perfect fit for us.

The Commanders' offense was garbage long before Bienemy went there. People questioned his coaching ability because he wasn't calling plays 100% of the time in Kansas City, then not even one year after, baby Callahan was gift wrapped a job in Tennessee when everyone knows that Zac Taylor was in control of the Bengals offense.
@Tony_Wes

@@Buchanan909not true. If you ask Zac and anyone on the staff, they'll tell you that they both were in charge of the plays but it was Zac's voice on the headset talking to the QB. Some of the time he takes Callahan's recommendations other times he didn't. He has said this many times anyway.

their argument is you should be hiring the most qualified candidate rather than the candidate you feel is a better fit for the team’s direction (offensive minded and collaborative Callahan)and most likely to lead the team towards success. Think about what they are actually saying. They’re saying you should hire based on résumé, not the individual fit… that is some of the worst advice. And if Brian Callahan is not seen as someone with a strong, résumé or a strong candidate, why has he had so many interviews this year and the last two years?
@user-oh3qp2kl3b
@user-oh3qp2kl3b 4 ай бұрын
To say this is not a quality higher for a franchise that’s has a history of hiring defensive coaches is just silly. Not every decision made or not made is related to race. Brian Callahan is a football lifer. He grew up with his dad as one of the greatest offensive line coaches in the history of the game. He knows, offense and quarterback play having worked with Manning, Matthew Stafford, and Burrow. He had 2 to 3 other interviews for head coaching positions lined up, so this isn’t just this random hire. He also has interviewed for head coaching positions the last couple years as well. The Titans have a struggling offensive line and there’s now a good chance that his dad from Cleveland will join him. Being a head coach is more about. How do you build relationships and how do you work collaboratively and who you bring in. Brian Callahan has this introverted style of leadership that is more likely to be successful. He’s highly intelligent there are actual traits and can make him a successful coach. This is not about race. Please stop making all of this about something it’s not that’s a reductionistic approach.

Let me say, I like EB. At a minimum, he deserves to have HC interviews. But he coached mahomes. Many coaches can be considered great when he's your qb. So he went to DC as a prove it. And they won 4 games and had an 8 game losing streak. Was it all on him, of course not. Bengals finish 9-8, finish w a win, and played w a backup qb in the afc north for 7 games? I'm not preaching for either guy but selection is not outrageous as they seem to say.

If you think Callahan didn’t help any of those QBs Skip said, you should look at their stats before he got there and then while he was there. Matt Stafford had arguably his 2 of best years of his career with him, the Broncos Offense was historical, and he worked with Burrow to help him get used to the league, and then when Burrow went down, made Jake Browning a competitive QB and still have an over .500 while dealing with other major injuries as well. The man’s been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1. Let’s give him some credit

This is such a stupid argument. Keyshawn‘s ignorance is expressed in his opening statement how little he actually really even knows about Brian Callahan, yet he’s so quick to judge him and criticize this hire. Because why…the color of his skin? Do these guys not pay attention to the current game of football-- very few offensive coordinators call plays when the head coach is an offensive coach. So does that mean they should never get a head coach position? Zac Taylor himself came from the Rams did not have any playcalling experience. Brian Callahan has more than earned this opportunity. Do you not know how many interviews he’s had over the last few years, and positions he did not get before this one? He had two more interviews after this one, and has worked hard to build his résumé. This is not a slight to any other candidate because of résumé or skin color. Please stop trying to feed a narrative that’s not really there with this hire. Being a head coach is far more than just being a play caller. It’s about having leadership trades and more often Democratic leadership style, football intelligence, and being able to more importantly, connect with players and build relationships. Brian Callahan has shown to be successful at all these things, and he’s a football lifer growing up in the business with his dad, has one of the greatest offensive line coaches in the history of the game. One easy argument that they are neglecting is that the success of a back up quarterback, Jake Browning under the game. Planning of Brian Callahan. In comparison, with the case of Eric B. When you have success under a Hall of Fame quarterback and a Hall of Fame coach, You’re just not going to get as much credit.

Vrabel sucked as a coach and was fortunate to have had some good coordinators which attributed to much of his success early on...He had Matt Lefluer, Arthur Smith. Then had Dean Pees as defensive coordinator. Vrabel should have never even got the job in the first place. He was a defensive coordinator for the Texans and the Texans defense sucked. So I'm not sure how he even got the job..

Out with the old and in with the new, I am a Bengals fan And what Zach Taylor and his coordinators have been able to do with the Bengals is amazing it is like a different football team and personally, I did not think hiring Zach Taylor was the best decision when they first did it but look what happened, also had interviews with the Falcons so multiple teams had him come in, so it wasn’t out of left field. It was just a matter of what team was going to hire him and a lot of these owners probably don’t want to deal with old head coaches that are set in their ways.
