What I like most about the 40K universe is the double threat. From humanity's perspective, they are barely holding on against a horde of terrible xenos, vile traitors, an awakening long dead empire and a barely comprehensible realm of demons and evil. Whereas everyone else is going - god help us, we're just about holding humanity back.
@handleonafridge6828 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, if humanity was fighting just one of those threats humanity would win. If Chaos were the only one, just positioning most of the navy around the eye of terror would keep any black crusade inside the warp for a *very* long time. If it were just Orks then the imperium would’ve put more time into finding out their weakness and realizing you just need fire to put them down. And if were just Eldar or Tao, the war would be over in a year. The only ones that could 1v1 the imperium are the tyranids and maybe the necrons if they decided to coordinate.
@siamihari8717 Жыл бұрын

Really in a 1v1 the imperium solos pretty much all factions except for the tyranids and maybe the necrons if they worked together, if the necrons don’t work together or most of their tomb worlds are kept asleep then the imperium just needs to exterminatus every unawoken tomb world while distracting the current awoken necrons by provoking eachother, the nids could also lose if humanity just relies on making an eterminatus barrier where worlds are destroyed to make a large enough barrier that all imperial ships can just camp the rim and snipe hive fleets with exterminatus weaponry, and we are not even mentioning the fact that the imperium limits progress except when it comes to space marines, they could figure out how to weaponize stars in just a few centuries due to the seer number of potential scientists and mechanicus tech priests that could u lock their potential if the imperium just removes all anti progress policies, in just another 1000 years with no progress hindering policies the imperium would completely destroy all factions
@JonWilde2105 Жыл бұрын
@@TherandomshitstormerCXVII It goes beyond that. The Imperium is so incomprehensibly powerful that its fighting solo vs a dozen or so threats simultaneously across its entire border, and indeed within it, and holding them off. It cannot win, but it also cannot lose - there will always be another Guardman to shove into the front line with a few weeks training and a flashlight. Even at the point the line must break, a Space Marine squad will intervene and rescue the situation. That is the grimdark for me - there is no end to the Imperium. There is only war. It's very telling that the Horus Heresy remains the biggest event in the Imperium's history. The greatest threat the Imperium, the wound from which it has still not recovered was internal betrayal, rather than external threat. Also worth noting that technological development isn't a cure. Mankind was incredibly more advanced millennia ago. They failed and were cast into a dark age. It was the Imperium, for all its faults, that has held on for humanity. Mindset trumps technology. Again, grimdark.
