I met Greg about 30 yrs ago in mount pleasant sc. I saw him at a gas station. Asked for his autograph. He didn’t want the attention but had us follow him and pulled over the side of a road. He gave me his autograph and was very nice to me and my family. I was about 8 then. To this day it’s my only autograph. Just wanted to say thank you Greg. As a kid it meant the world!

I met Greg in 1983/84 at my hometown high school. I was 12/13 and he came out of the gym locker room doors after a WWF event in the school gym. His Cadillac was pulled up to the door and he opened his trunk and (I swear) he had a stack of white towels (which he always wore around his neck and under his robe) neatly folded in a pile about 3 feet tall. It was kinda surreal. He had Wendy Richter with him as well (she was gorgeous). The two of them got in the Caddy and drove across the street to a corner gas station/store. We followed them over and they gassed up and purchsed a 6 pack of brew and hit the road. He was a bit standoff-ish but polite. I also met Bob Backlund that night - he was still WWF Champ and about to lose the title to the Iron Sheik one weel later in Madison Square Garden. I loved wrestling back then.

He was a very good wrestler and for me, he was one of the most believable. He was just a hard hitting tough guy. I seen him years later at an indepent show in Dayton Ohio and as he walked through the isle way I stuck my hand out and he high fived me. That made my night. The Hammer is the best! Greg Valentine wasn't the wrestler you wanted to see, he was the wrestler you needed to see.....Just so solid in the ring. You couldn't ask for a better all around, Jack of all Trades type. To this day, nobody can make an elbow drop look as good as 'the Hammer'

SO much respect for these guys - the athleticism, the showmanship... I met Hulk Hogan in FL in 2005. Treated him with the respect he deserved & he was very nice. I got a great picture with him. Made me look tiny in comparison!

Grew up in the 80s obsessed with wrestling. Always liked The Hammer. He wasn't flashy and never did flips off the ropes like they do today. Always viewed him as a "tough guy" who could wrestle for 45 minutes and and never get tired. Always liked his matches with Piper and Garvin. Had some good ones with Hogan too.

Greg was such a solid heel back in the day. People like Greg, Don Muraco, Bob Ortin ,Adrian Adonis, Stan Hansen and the list goes, we’re such compelling heels and made the product almost seem real. Greg worked a couple of programs with Bob Backlund ,at MSG, that were absolute, kayfabe, golden year masterpieces. The best days of the WWWF......
