That intro promo was awesome! Everything he said made sense so I don’t understand people saying it didn’t. Did it go a little long? Sure but I’ve watched it many times and remember it when it happened. It was one of the best promos in WCW. Warrior’s return could’ve been magic but Bischoff didn’t want to put the work in. And go back and watch Halloween Havoc. Hogan made that match awful, not Warrior. Hogan acted like he was drunk and even almost lit his own face on fire. Warrior gets a bad rep and it’s undeserved.

Warrior spoke for 13 minutes. The whole segment went 17 minutes but the first 4 minutes was Hogan speaking. I don’t doubt that the segment went longer than expected but it was a great moment and Nitro won the ratings that week. Warrior is not the reason this failed. Warrior failed in WCW for the same reason Bret failed-poor booking.

@JohnDoe-gk7ok
@JohnDoe-gk7ok 3 сағат бұрын
@ And cumulative hour ratings were based on quarter hours, genius. Boring? Tell that to the sold out crowd in Hartford that evening that broke out into deafening “Warrior” chants. Tell that to the millions of people who turned from Raw to watch it and helped Nitro win the evening. It was great, and I’m saying this as someone who watched it happen in realtime. Did you actually see it as it happened, or are you just watching it on KZbin after a bunch of talking heads (who hated Warrior to begin with) said it was boring? Yes, the ratings went up because Warrior was there. Isn’t that what I’ve been saying?

To be fair to Bischoff, he also built the ship into a competitor to the WWF. He just hitched his wagon to Hogan for too long, which led to all the other problems afterward. If he let Sting win clean, and then kept Hogan as far away from the championship as possible (following whatever contract restrictions he had to the letter and no more) things probably don't get so bad.
@Colt2OO2
@Colt2OO2 5 сағат бұрын
Bro really thinks Bischoff cares what critics like you say or is even reading the comments, sure he might have unintentionally accelerated its demise but the whole reason that ship even stayed afloat in the first place was because of everything he did differently than whatever comedic garbage WWE was putting out in '95 and '96. I think it's time you stop believing all the marks that call themselves journalists and listen to people who were actually there for once, I'll take that person's word over literally anything that comes out of Meltzer's mouth for example

It was 💯 to get Hogan the win. Poor management in everyway and again shows how WCW allowed the top names to run and spend

So without watching the video, Eric reinvents a lot of history, gets really vague if the issue of hulks creative control comes up, and takes credit for anything that worked out🤷

I don't believe anything Bichoff says when it comes to Hogan. He's a huge kiss ass for him.

This is a old one, but still Eric is such a Hogan mark and not down with the interviewer playing along but I get it. Everyone knew Hogan and Eric brought Warrior back to not only try to recapture their WM6 moment, but also so Hogan can get his win back. Hogan was even the one that reached out to him, then had Eric make an offer to get him to come back. They started talking to him, according to Warrior, back in 97 before he actually agreed and appeared in 98. Everyone warned him as to way they brought him back, and sadly he didn't believe them, and found out the hard way. The promo thing was more like 15mins, and I remember watching it, and he was playing into the crowd and they were into it. They were chanting Warrior's name and "Hogan Sucks" near the end. So that was likely the real issue, that Hogan was getting booed and Warrior was getting over. They screwed him, and instead of owning it they blamed him for the issues that went on. Hell, he even said the supernatural stuff they had him do was suppose to be a one off. Keep some bits but not the trap door, disappearing and mirror thing. They even had him stay under the ring to pop up through the trap door, then go back and sit under there till the arena was empty. And they didn't even wait for him to get out, they just left him there to be met by the cleanup crew. Still they kept going, and he got hurt breaking out of the cage cuz they had him appear in it and tear out of it. But he wasn't the only one that got hurt either, Bulldog got really hurt when he was slammed on the trap door and so was Alex Wright. According to Alex, neither Eric or anyone from management warned them about the trap door being there. Which is fucked up, cuz they had two rings there and could have told them to wrestle in the other one. But Eric and them are dicks, who even fired Bulldog while he was in recovery. Hell when Sid broke his leg in the ring, they fired him while he was still recovering too. Either way, they made all these promises to Warrior that was suppose to go down after the match with Hogan. Which Hogan botch it. I mean it started off good, till the ref got knocked out and the NWO jumped in. But then it got back on track, till Hogan botched the fire ball. For a sec it looked like they were going to get back on track again, but nope, and it ended with Warrior out in the ring covered in gasoline. Warrior appeared one more time, then they had him sit at home till his contract was up. He even talked about how he tried calling them to get things moving, but Eric wouldn't return any of his calls. Warrior pretty much retired after this, only having a final retirement match in 08 against Orlando Jordan. RIP Warrior

Hogan and Sting horrible finish, Hogan and warrior horrible finish, hogan and nash clown of a finish, and the common denominator Hogan. As much 💩 as hogan gave Warrior one could argue the best match he ever had was probably with Warrior at Wrestle Mania 6.

Warrior and Goldberg drew more money than anybody on the current roster. Johnson probably would have had he not been injury prone.

@@Rschr101Warrior would have continued to be a top drawl if they would have booked him right as champion and even after if Vince paid him for all the popularity he brought to the wwf at the time. I can almost bet the whole back room didn’t like him from the jump because he jumped spots without having to go through the ranks and therefore he had a me against the world attitude and never cared to truly become one of the boys. He could have been great wrestling wise if he learned the ins and outs especially because of his friendship with the Von Erich’s

You can talk about Hogan wanting his win back...but Hogan winning was absolutely the right thing to do. Because at that time, Warrior had nothing left. People were sick of him inside of a month in WCW. Hogan was still a draw in 98 and there was still money matches he could have done
