I met Axl once at a TNA Bound for Glory show in Philly. He just wondered to our section to watch the RVD Jerry Lynn match. Guy was nice as nice could be. Told him, me and my friend used to go to the ECW Arena and Lulu Temple back when we were teenagers. I bought him a Corona and thanked him for all he had done.

For a year I think it was, when he was Johnny Polo WWF basically kept him off screens and only used him for some promos here and there. In this time, he sat down and spent it watching their ENTIRE back catalogue of matches from the vault. This is how he knows it so well, he had nothing else todo BUT study it and that is the result :S.

@simonc311210 жыл бұрын
yes he is... but he was not better than axl, non-hardcore, or hardcore, whatever they fucking call it, or however you look at it. he was beautiful on the mic, and he had one of the greatest idea's ever for a stable, and a cool grunge character (before that whole culture died out and he just became this weird guy with paint on his face without those jeans). okay he was a part of the "hardcore" genre (if you can call it that), sabu and terry funk almost killed themselves. terry funk was the greatest (raven was put over - barely legal), but axl was the guy that dipped his hands in broken pieces of glass with Ian (for instance), and took punches to the face, or went through a flaming table, i don't remember raven doing that, atleast the fucking glass, that shit was scary.

@fuzzydunlop79286 жыл бұрын
So, one take-away from this is that Balls' gimmick was basically meant to be Omar Little before Omar Little was a thing. Another - Raven didn't think Blue Meanie was anything but a comedy gimmick. o_O Please never take this video down, it's perfect. So enlightening on the early ECW period and WCW.

I believe it. I was in an ECW yahoogroup when ECW in the late 90's and there was this 20 year old really good looking girl in the group who was a friend of mine as well, and she thought Raven was great looking. She spent probably a couple thousand dollars on Raven memorabilia on ebay - just tons of autographed pictures, boots he'd worn in the ring, jackets he'd worn, etc.

Axl is everything good that Ian isn't, and is not everything bad that Ian is. He's smart, pretty talented, witty, and was unfairly pigeon holed as nothing but a death match thug. Just like his costar in this interview, the also very clever, talented, and creative Raven, Ian wasn't given the push he deserved. But where as Raven only got maybe half of the push he deserved, if that much, Ian barely got a quarter. It's really a shame.

In defence of Raven, I sit and twitch all over the place when sober, so it might just be because of numerous injuries and moving to keep the limbs from stiffening. Don't just quickly judge people because they have the reputation. It would also help if half of the people saying "they're on coke" had even taken coke...
