This in-depth exclusive from Title Match Wrestling (recorded June 2015) dissects the dangerous after-effects of pro wrestling. Filmed on location at the Anchorage Rehab Center in Salisbury, MD. We encourage you to donate what you can to help get Axl his life-changing spinal surgery: www.YouCaring.com/AxlRotten

Ive been around the scene in the uk for years, ive never been in the ring, i dj'ed at shows and sound engineer at some, my main job was drive my mates around the country, they were a tag team. Ive met quite a few arseholes along the way, but also some great blokes who i got on well with, brian was on the good-guy list!. I may go to a few shows soon as i have'nt seen most of the scene for 5 years and im getting txt's about going to a show, to create chaos back stage!!( in a good way!). I ran across this video. It blew me away. I started Brian in wrestling. Joey Maggs ,Jim Leon and myself trained him in a gym on North Avenue. I was kind of hesitant to get him trained because he was only 16 at the time but he kept coming back to train. He was a little chubby guy but he had heart. I talked Joey and Jim into it and he went on to do great things. The drugs took over and I did not see him for a long time. But he called me two weeks before he passed away and we had a long conversation about his life and career . He was doing well then staying in Indiana with Ian but he came back to Baltimore and I got a call from MCW owner Dan Mcdevitt that he had just passed that morning. I could not believe it but it was true. I will forever miss my buddy. Brian you were a good friend to me. I'm sorry for what happened to Axl. But Brian was a good dude R.I.P BRIAN KNIGHTON.

I sympathize with axl and would like to see him fully recover. I can tell him though that his type of injuries are not endemic to wrestlers. they occur to the average guy with sometimes little cause. I am married to a woman whose ex was a referee and small time wrestler in the 60's in Sacramento and local areas. She said what is fake about wrestling is that the match wimmers are predetermined and many of the moves are choreagraphed. The moves and falls, leaps, slams and other actions are really done and they many times go wrong. These guys are truly super-athletes and I enjoy them. I am 70 and love to see the matches when they come to my area.

+Mike Ruben Of course they are Mike, Noone denies this. But what is often forgotten is that you or I or most of the people in the world could not duplicate these moves. Yes the falls, throws, hits, and other moves are choreographed, but the action even though planned and practiced still take skill, strength and toughness. Do we watch an action movie and comment....."Thats a planned out thing, I could do better?". No, we watch for the escapism and just the pleasure of watching guys and gals flying through the air, hurling heavyweights around and slamming them down.....just enjoy them

@brad hoke seriously? Steroid abuse can't kill you by itself? Your a fool sorry. Steroids cause hardening of arteries that leads to heart attacks, don't talk out of your ass.

Steroids DO kill. They make muscles bigger and your heart is a muscle. Your heart is not supposed to be enlarged. That's why all these wrestlers with great bodies end up dying from heart attacks.

That was a very good interview that leaves me amazed at how these guys don't intuitively understand that the crazy stunts and spots they're doing are going to lead to long term health complications. But I suppose the combination of being young and (relatively) famous, the lack of job security, and in this case drug addiction, don't lend themselves to much looking forward.

As I grew up he would come into some of the Bars and Restaurants I worked at or went too! He was a nice guy and wanted it so bad he could taste it! You could tell it was his life! We def miss you Axl!!! 💜

and when New Jack got at Vince for killing wrestling ppl called him an asshole for it and Vince is God and all that. cmon now EVERYONE who knows and breathes "wrestling" can see the shitty state WWE "sports entertainment" is. like AXL says its jus another TV show. this interview tho is pretty damn good and insightful. was always a fan of the old ECW, waiting up til like 1 or 2 am to watch it! Great interview

Axl was a huge staple of ECW! WWE gives him to recognition when it comes to the history of ECW, which is a damn shame. He could get you hype when he was on the mic and like Raven said he was the most underrated workers in the biz and it's a shame he couldn't get passed the blood and guts gimmick. He seems very down to earth in most shoots I've watched and it saddens me to see a true hardcore icon of wrestling in this state.
