Great animation! For the people complaining about 'love' being the cure to Jacks problem. I don't think it's love so much as finding someone who actually cares about you. That can help a lot.

Will love doesn’t have to mean in a relationship with that partner, love mean that you are willing to help or take care of a person that you respect. I actually appreciate this story because as someone who faces something very similar (bpd+schizophrenia, what a combo) the visuals is exactly what it's like. Sometimes it's off putting, but tou learn to live with it because it's your norm and you HAVE to. And even if it doesn't ever fully go away, when you can finally heal, it really does feel like everything falls into place. I get turning to a bad lifestyle, could be because you can't function enough to do anything else, or it's all you know you can do, and the monsters within tell you to keep going because deep down you hate what it does to you. But eventually we can get the chance to break that cycle, and it's such a good feeling. My brain never stops seeing those monsters. Medicine never helped me, and it's how my brain works now. But I can learn to live with it, to not let it define me, and to live freely. It won't chain me down anymore. I hope everyone in these shoes can find that balance, that spark that allows us to move on and be free. Thank you for making this beautiful little movie Titmouse. It's refreshing and relieving to see such raw, real depictions with good meaning and a good ending.

This short film sort of displays a relatable sense(IMO) of how a person dealing with these type of mental issues copes and handles everyday life(not stealing, but emotionally). I admire every bit of this film and can relate to it on a higher level, personally and truly. I'm confident that this is a product of personal-expression and PHENOMENAL TALENT within their craft(animation). There's people with AMAZING TALENT that are not able to output their abilities 100% because of the monsters(mental issues) they're fighting/dealing with in their head. I do not know if David V., the producer of this film, created this, purposely, with the paranoid-schizo/schizoid-trope references in the film, but it is incredibly accurate. I also did deeper research and noticed that he has went on to directing, storyboarding, and much more in some films that were nominees. It's awesome that such talent has and is still flourishing until this day. Well deserved.👏🎬

If only it was that easy to dispel mental illness. Everyone says "how romantic" but it's clear she dismisses mental illness as a mood or a feeling, as in expecting it to pass and everything be okay, when here it is a fundamental component of his entire identity and is not something that will go away regardless of who is or isn't in his life. If anything he will just rebound into a greater spiral into mental illness when he fucks up again. Great animation though, too bad the nuance and subtext are lost on so many.

I went from an almost feral human being completely burning inside with hatred to someone who looks that same person in the mirror with a deep breath and courage. I've been looking into shadow work lately and this felt like a visual depiction of doing shadow work. A lot of the times there are parts of us that we want to lock away and forget, parts that aren't socially acceptable but doing shadow work can look like taking those parts of ourselves and integrating them within us and accepting them instead of rejecting them. And a lot of the times having those shadows show up or trying to tell us something. Maybe his was the whole concept of learning to accept people caring for him because it seem like she really did and initially he brushed her off but now he's come to accepting her care which changed his outlook. wonderful to come back to this years later
