Putting a drone intro under a Bukowski reading gets me right in the feels. They could use that for any of their own sings and bring the house down.

Everything about this cover is perfect, especially the poem intro, but... the vocals. I don't know if it's a mixing thing or if his voice just isn't cut out for this song, but it really holds it back.

I too LOVED the intro poem with the drone and then , and then...Jeebus, what happened to the lead singer's voice. You hear singers on top of a note or a bit below the note but...he was like 2 stories up on "I've got a secret to tell". Dude, if it's below your range just change the key! Anyway, the approach to the song was totally cool and respectful, just grow a pair--of vocal chords.
@warrenfriesner83432 жыл бұрын
OK, this video DID make me curious enough to check out Titus Andronicus' work. I like them a lot doing their own material, where raw power and conviction makes for a muscular, compelling vocal...but it's obvious that the lead singer's style is so fundamentally different from Linnell's that it's pretty much oil and water. I doubt either of the John's would sound great doing "(I'm) Screwed" either though, they were actually pretty awesome on their AV Club's Tubthumping cover.

This song is ridiculously hard. I'd give it a solid B performance just based on difficulty.
@kirkrich94113 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the drummer mic and singer mic were swapped on the board thus levels incorrect but if you listen he's got all the pattern of the song on cue and on track....id say mixing more the issue here...a live TMBG could sound like this with a house sound guy who doesn't setup between bands
@tommywommy16792 жыл бұрын
If you use your eyes you can see that the drums are coming through the vocal mics and that there are no mics on the drums
