The reveal of this episode is something I always remember as being both shocking and effective. It was handled with aplomb, had humor and a message of the unspoken side of domestic abuse that resonates today.

This episode hits hard, my last relationship was abusive as hell. She did it all. Physical, mental, emotional. It felt like I had no where to go, and was convinced no one would care if I tried to get help. She had me convinced no one loved me other than her, and that I *needed* her, would be nothing without her. I finally got out of it a year and a half ago, and am still trying to recover, I (obviously) can talk about it more openly now, but this episode definitely puts a spotlight on a subject that's very much overlooked. Thank you @christophertitustv for posting this, it very well could help someone else that feels alone in the world.

Man that sucks and it's what abusive people tend to do. Make you feel isolated like no one cares so you just stay and take it, like in this episode where after the fight she got naked and convinced him, or tried to, that it was his fault and she hated fighting when in reality the opposite was true.
@ilitsa4 жыл бұрын
@@GrimmShadowsII yeah, the same stuff happened to me. She had me convinced that the only reason anyone talked to me was because of her, and if I left no one would want me anymore. This episode was way too real, but that's what makes it so good
@PistonAvatarGuy4 жыл бұрын
I went through something similar to what Titus went through in this episode, except I did end up with nowhere to go, because I worked with this woman and she got me fired from my job and then she got me kicked out of my apartment. For some reason, the police department in the city that we lived in was completely indifferent to abuse, even when it was her mom being abused by her drunk father. I had called the police multiple times, neighbors and bystanders had called the police on my behalf on several occasions (one where she tried to run me over with her car), and the police had even witnessed her punching me in the back of the head as I walked away from her, just by chance, but nothing ever happened to her and I was actually talked out of pressing charges against her! I still haven't been able to recover emotionally and have been told by my doctor that I'm likely having trouble sleeping due to PTSD. Ah well, no one cares, so why should I, right?

Man or woman, there is NO shame in being part of an abusive relationship. Be honest and open with those who REALLY care about you. The *aggressors* deserve the shame; and those who ignore or laugh at your plight can go fuck themselves.

My own "Noelle" was a self-harmer. She never hurt me, just herself. But she used that to keep me with her way longer than i should have. I always appreciated this show for being able to tackle some deeper more thought provoking story-lines while still making it comedic. Although he's not dead my dad and I often discussed how I must have been trying to reclaim and fix the relationship with my own mother through that ex husband. I know Christopher won't see this comment but his comedy all those years ago helped me heal from both those abusive relationships it was nice to know I wasn't alone with this screwed up mother and ex

let me also add..after growing up watching my dad be a punching bag to my biological psychotic mother, not because he was a wimp but because his own father was extremely abusive and for him men didnt leave and they never hit back... a huge thank you to Titus not being afraid to share that men get abused, we often at some point draw in the poisonous relationship we had as children, and we live and overcome and hopefully choose better... real men get knocked around sometimes because the wimps are the one's doing the abusing.

Can you imagine the tables being turn on this situation? I'm glad they pointed out that men get abused all the time but rarely say anything for this very reason. People just don't take men being abused seriously. However, if a man even pushes a woman out of his way, he is looking at 10-15 years. At the end of the day, everyone needs to keep their damn hands to themselves. I truly love this series. Probably the only series I've watched that tackled this subject.

Domestic abuse is not a laughing matter. That a man would be willing to stay in such a relationship is not inspiring. People should realize that the first time a domestic partner raises his or her hand to hit them, it should be the last. Because it will only get worse. And if you then bring children into it -- well, that just escalates the insanity. Unlike baseball, with domestic abuse, ONE HIT AND YOU'RE OUT!!!!

It's possible the family wouldn't sign a release and then the network would be at risk for being sued, so the name change makes sense but yeah changing when she died just to show the wake was kind of weird. But it's still a pretty good episode that's funny while still discussing a serious issue that's not discussed much, abuse period yet alone a girl beating a guy almost twice her size.
