City Scene in Watercolor - The Hague

I used to live in The Hague since I studied painting at The Academy of Beautifull Arts. In 2013 we got kids and moved to a smaller town, but I'm still working in my studio in The Hague. This seems to be a perfect situation to paint this town with love.
In this video you see me working on a watercolor of a city scene with humans in backlight. You see me drawing and working from the first wash. Over this wash I put several darker and dryer layers.

Yes, it must often be a challenge to yourself to leave the comfort and peace of your studio for the city streets to paint plein air. But with the exposure to the interruptions of interested bystanders comes the positive input of the sounds and the smells of the total sensation of the atmosphere. And of course your creative spontaneity will be reflected in this art.
