Best sharpening investment I’ve made. Tried two others including a wet wheel system.

Hello Martin. Could you create a play list for just the sharpening videos please. I find it hard to find the older videos

Hi Martin, great video.

I discovered Dan at Yandles and he recommended the pro edge when I bought my lathe and gouges. Personally, I love it. After watching your latest video, it looks as though I’ll be investing in a diamond belt 🌞

Hi Martin, sorry for the shameful plug but I have just released a video using your embellishing wax, it works so well on ebonised wood.

I use the ProEdge and it is easy and quick but I find the belts don't last very long. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong

How about the Sorby grinding system for bench grinders? Any recommendations?

Tormek system is better.

We have a Tormek and it is not as good as the Pro-Edge for our general purposes. Bought it, tried it. Don't like it. Simple. All tools are chosen for the users purposes. You like the Tormek, great. You have tools you can work with. So do I.

Thanks for the video! However have a question on the grinder? Can you do 65 degree grind? Appreciate the feed back!

The steepest I generally go is 60°, but 70° is possible with a little playing.

@@msabansmith Awesome thanks Martin! Is worth the investment verses cbn wheels? I know that RS is quite on the high $ side.

I have the sorby pro edge and I turn with Ellsworth grind bowl gouge. The sorby pro edge does not do a good job of sharpening the left wing of the gouge. When sharpening the gouge it won’t lay over flat enough. The tool holder hits the body of the pro edge. Doing the right side of the gouge it lays over flat enough, there are no obstructions. I have all the proper devices to do the grind but it does not work on the left edge. Any fix?

I don't roll gouges over any further than about 90° (to just before the left catches on the machine as you describe) as I find it rolls the edge into the flute and I don't like that. I then just match the grind on the right. It doesn't seem to make any difference to the efficiency of the tool in the wood that I can see. I use 45°, 55° and 60° bowl gouges and 40° and 45° spindle gouges with no problem at all. Each to their own, I guess.
