Paul said, "..we preach Christ". Preaching "sermons" is dull x dull, indeed. Fire, Mr Maclagan, fire from above is what you need. Spurgeon knew it. *Men of one book with a deep, powerful experience of God is what makes the difference.* Anthropocentric "authority" is no substitute for divine authority. Davy, was one of the more 'evangelical' men of the Church of Scotland, a church that had already been corrupted by compromise and in decay for over a century. Jesus would have 'cleansed' that conceited tartan temple of its decay; its General Assembly never did. But then what does one expect when professors in CoS seminaries are avowed atheists, like my old supporter Prof. Robert Caroll of Glasgow University. Just before he died, we were walking in the University precincts chatting of spiritual things. "Professor Caroll, when you meet God you'll know he is God." Soon afterward I learned of his early, unexpected death. Now he knows.
