Best interview of a Dealer. Felt like i got half part of the trivoli saga. Wish i could know more about him and his journey. All away from Kerala, India, a small beginner dealer.

Philippe a legend in Hi Fi. He came to my restaurant in the country a couple of times as he said, 'I need sometimes to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.' Perhaps he is a country boy like me. I have always found him polite funny and knowledgeable. May he always be so. I noted some one remarked that the 90's was the decade for hi fi. No incorrect ,the 70's will never have the like again. Hi Fi stores were everywhere, vinyl was king and many record stores were a product of this explosion. Nice interview Philippe, stay well my friend.

Great interview Marc. Philippe is a legend. I bought my 1st system from Tivoli back in '88. Still have the Canton speakers.

For me the golden age of hifi was the 90s because the products had matured from the cottage industry gear from the 70s and 80s, we had the gorgeous rosewood end cheeks on statement components like the Marantz CD94, and we had the fantastic new wave of high end gear from the likes of Krell, Apogee, MF and so many others… Best of all, a statement product was not astronomically priced out of reach of the common man. People could afford Apogee, or Krell, or Magnepan , even though they were very expensive for the time. And Tivoli, like Engel Stereo, was a huge part of that for me. They were like a wonderland of toys to a little kid, and one of my first and favourite purchases that I still have to this day was an Audiolab 8000a. They also introduced me to the incredible Spendor SP2/2, Fast forward 30 years and it’s all changed so much..sadly for the worst in some ways… eg Wilson and Focal statement speakers for $400,000+, $60k dCS CD players, … the high end has become unattainable to all but the filthy rich. But nonetheless, congratulations to a decent and fair operator on the 50th milestone !
