With that 5.3, are you running the 4L60e? If so I got 2 questions/requests. Do you know the length from the snout of the harmonic balancer to output shaft of the transmission? Do you think you would be able to get the transmission higher up if you needed to? I'm running a FLAT skid and would like it to clear if do-able. Thanks for any help.

I have a NV4500, but the next swap is a 5.3/4L60e/231j into a 1999 TJ.

Thanks man, I truly just like making videos and putting them out for the world to see. Some stuff is better than others but it's just a lot of fun creating something. Thanks for commenting.

Awesome build! I’m in the middle of a build on a TJ with an LS1. Which NV4500 did you use? Adapters? Thank you
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
@@wsoper8435 I used a NV4500 from a 95 chevy diesel. It had a bad input bearing and I had to re-assemble the 5th gear synchro but otherwise it worked great. I paid $700 I think. One thing about a NV4500, if you've never drove one, it doesn't shift on the fly and it's a bitch going into 3rd, takes a awhile to get used to it.
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
@@wsoper8435 sorry, no adapters. I used a LS1 pilot bearing, 4.8 flywheel, 4.8 clutch/pressure plate, 95 diesel clutch fork and throw out bearing. The stock tj clutch master works fine with the 95 diesel slave, used the diesel hydraulic line.
@wsoper84353 жыл бұрын
Jeep Willy's workshop thank you responding. Did it bolt up to your 5.3? Spline work?
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
@@wsoper8435 the older chevy transmissions bolt up, but there is one less bolt, it's no biggie. DO NOT DRILL AND TAP THE BLOCK WHERE THE HOLE SHOULD BE! It goes into a coolant passage. Everything else worked great, theres tons of stuff online for you to research.

So you run the big tires 44’s on the stock front rubicon axle? What is done to it? Gear size, axle shafts and all. I’m asking because I’m the same way I’m not all for spending what I paid for my Jeep on the front axle. I have a 05 tj dana 30 front for now and Dana 44 rear stock
@JeepWillysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Front axle is a Dana 60, course it’s still breakable

If you could give some more info on how you mated the 5.3 to the NV4500 that would me greatly appreciate. Just like adapters, flexplate, flywheel, ect
@JeepWillysworkshop4 жыл бұрын
I didn't use anything really, I used a common swap clutch for a manual trans, its stock, nothing crazy. Used a LS1 pilot bealing, NV4500 hydraulic clutch assembly with the jeep master cyl.

What bellhousing did you use? And harness ecm wise?

I used the NV4500 bell housing, I modified the harness from the donor vehicle and had the stock ECM flashed to run the engine without VATS

The cluster stop working when i hooking up the oil pressure sensor do you have any idea what I can do about it.
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be a issue, maybe something in the wiring
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
Not sure, the Tj's were prone to a "NO BUSS" error that was displayed on the odometer, I had that issue with mine and there's a wire you jumper behind the cluster, you should be able to google it. Maybe that will help, sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Do you ever go to the mall and passively aggressively park next to JK's? haha I know about the jeep wave, but feel like men like you shouldn't be waving to any ole jeep.
@JeepWillysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
You would be surprised, i wave at everyone if I’m in a jeep. My wife and I are very active in the community and are always going to car shows in our free time and supporting the sport as much as possible. If I’m wheeling I generally just wheel with whomever whatever their level. The only people I can’t stand are the consistently unprepared people.

@@JeepWillysworkshop haha, I was being a little comical, not to be taken quite so literally. I was suggesting your rig is pretty hardcore, a truly used off road jeep.

I also have an NV4500 mated to a 5.3L LS in my 1972 C30. Mine has a 4.10 rear end (HD80) and it's a dog. Its very slow in acceleration and if I floor it at 75 mph it barely accelerate but I have had it to 105 mph. What experience do you have with your setup? Mine is stock and I rebuilt the engine with a GTO intake, headers and no cats. Also backfiring in 3rd gear is really bad.
@JeepWillysworkshop4 жыл бұрын
No backfiring, it's slow to shift for sure, but acceleration is fine. My other jeep has a 6.0 mated to a SM465 and at 75 mph it barely accelerates if floored, but like yours it will go over 100mph.
