Real Life IFR Pop Up clearance

In today's flight we had an interesting takeoff, a Pop Up IFR clearance and an instrument approach to land at St Petersburg FL to visit the famous Salvadore Dali museum, which is walking distance to the airport

Nice video, as always! I haven't been to the Dali museum since before I started flying. Didn't realize how close it was. I assume you used Sheltair when you arrived? How was the FBO and fees? Being IFR in central Florida seems to be the only way to do it. Trying to dodge the different airspace and other traffic seems like a heavy workload for VFR.

Yes Sheltair … no fees with fuel purchase. The museum is across the street from the FBO! Plus they have a nice restaurant on the second floor with a terrace overlooking the runway

1. Be sure you know how to read every type of approach plate (not just ILS) because the DPE can ask u about any of them 2. Make sure u are comfortable flying the approaches with and without autopilot 3. Most importantly, show up rested and relaxed 😎
