Rebekah, I know this can be difficult for you at the moment... but please, be ABSOLUTELY PROUD of what you have been doing for the last year. You gave us hope. You made us happy. And, what's more, you made us enjoy a TV show which has proven to be shitty. Rebekah, please be aware that you (and the TJLC community) have CREATED a parallel show which has become way much clever, intense and plausible than the BBC Sherlock show itself. For me, personally, YOU are the real creator of the show that I've fallen in love with. And season 4 will not change that. YOU GAVE THE SHOW ALL ITS SENSE AND INTENSITY. Don't be ashamed of it. You did a WONDERFUL job!!! And I'm so grateful for it... I really mean it.THANK YOU VERY MUCH, REBEKAH!

That's right. In the last minute BBC made a backtrack. TFP was not consequent, many pieces of the puzzle layed out in the previous episodes (and so clever analysed by Rebekah) were not put together in the end or they were not matching.

rofl, such a constructive comment, if you don't agree fine, that's up to you, but wheres the point in leaving a negative comment?

+Debra Ferris (somehow I can't see the comment you posted but I read it in my emails so here's the reply:) I can only speak for myself and that is that I am not hateful towards people with other opinions about this show. Don't take these conversations here personally, everyone is more or less anonymous here and will outright tell you their honest opinion, something they would probably not do to your face. I don't know if you mean the comment sections on the tjlc explained videos in particular, and I haven't read a lot of them, but the things I saw were only positive. And come one, if you've seen the videos and know what lays behind this, it is clear that we'll defend our opinions and feelings about this no matter what, that is of course not a reason to call someone a homophobe or other things, but I understand that the LGBTQ+ community is so frustrated with people disregarding what we (and I mean not only the people who watch BBC Sherlock, I mean people who read/watched the original canon and other adaptations) clearly and 110% see as a gay relationship, as something as a "bromance" or other things and the representation of LGBTG+ people in our time in media/etc in general. And as someone who visits this side daily (not really proud of it) I can tell you that there are way worse cases of comment sections.

SPOILERS I don't care what cannon says, the ideas shared here are so much more meaningful, and they honestly make more sense with both the story arc and logic. Thank you for posting these. I know that it's hard putting yourself out there, but these videos are still so meaningful to me and have changed my life, even if the show writers have decided to screw us over. Fuck the cannon. I'm sticking to Johnlock.

Hey Rebekah, I'm not sure if you'll see this, it's been so long I'm not sure you'll see comments posted on this channel. Back in 2016 and very early 2017 until series four was finished, I was an avid fan of Sherlock. The series, the final episode in particular, shattered my interest in the show, basically the whole show, because, as one of your videos in this series asks, if it wasn't gay, then why? But the reason in 2016 I became, in the first place, a fan of Sherlock was predominantly because I was absolutely in love with the way this, your, series enriched the original content, by simply connecting obvious dots for an audience keen to see them. For me, you are the best writer of BBC Sherlock. The two confused men that brought Sherlock into the world and made it public property did not have the literary prowess or courage to produce what they could have, to pull the trigger on one weapon in the armoury of Chekhov's guns they seemingly stumbled into setting up for years. But you did. You've given me all the proof I'll ever need that these men love each other, and in the story you and so many brilliant meta writers in the Sherlock community created I see them overcoming the obstacles you pointed out, and in my head I can see how they did it. Series 4 is much less canon to me than every single thing you've said. It's the fly in the ointment, the crack in the lens OF such an otherwise emotionally stimulating show. You made this show enjoyable to me, not M. Gatiss and S. Moffat. Watching the show years after it let me down did not make me feel better about the ending. Watching this series directly after gave me back the joy I remember having during that time. I know you aren't in the public eye now, as far as I can see. But any other show you were to analyse, any other piece of literature in an academic setting as a university lecturer or something like that I know people would be delighted to watch. You have a gift with explaining and making a whole community (judging from every other comment on so many of these videos) enjoy something so much more. It's likely I will not revisit Sherlock the show again after this, but I'm sure in later years I'll watch these videos again, they're much better than the source material. I never really comment on KZbin but I just wanted to comment this. Thank you so much for this series. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, I hope you count your time spent on this series as an efficacious period of your life, it was certainly a positive addition to mine. Warmest regards, Charlotte.

I am not a Johnlock shipper and I will probably never be but I don't think you have to be ashamed or question yourself. The fact that it did not happen does not mean you are wrong or are not clever. In this story I think there is no universal truth. No one is right, no one is wrong. Subtexts can be interpreted differently but that does not mean you are wrong, your interpretation is just different and is just as beautiful as the interpretation of those who have a different opinion.

I hope you are doing okay Rebekah. I feel horrible about season 4, but I can only imagine how you feel. I think I speak for the community when I say we are here for you- and no matter what anyone says, Johnlock is/was real, and the writers knew it. And they used it against us. I'm heart broken, but I believe this beautiful community would not exist without you and I am still thankful for that. One day we all will be represented and it will no longer constantly be questioned. And when that day comes, if I'm still alive, I promise you will be the person I give credit to opening the eyes of so many that it became possible. I love you Rebekah and I will always believe in you.

Coming back to this after some time is kind of weird. Like I haven't thought about this show in a while. It kinda makes me sad that the last season just want good on any level really. I don't think any group of people watching the show ended up happy. If you were a TJLC believer, that ended in disappointment. Or even if you just enjoyed seeing Sherlock and Johns friendship; they literally don't act like friends for almost 90% of season 4. If you wanted Molly and Sherlock together, then it was just super disappointing cause they treated Molly Hooper so bad in 4. Did you like John and Mary together? Did you like Mary as a character?? Then you're also in for disappointment! Like everything that happened in that season felt like the show had taken 12 steps back. Character development: gone. Meaningful Relationships between characters: half these people acted like they hated each other. It was just so disappointing. I guess coming back here I remember the excitement that I felt going into season 4. Yeah, I shipped JL, but I just liked feeling a part of this larger group that liked the same thing I did. It felt like we were all working together on something. If season 4 had of just been good, I feel like we could have moved on a bit better. But nothing about season 4 felt good, at least to me. It didn't feel like Sherlock. And now we'll probably never get to see the show redeem itself. Anyways, I'm sorry to just go off about this. I just forgot how much this KZbin channel really put into analyzing this show and how excited it made me feel as season 4 was on the horizon.

It has been 3 years since the last season and since I started to watch the show and discovered your videos. At that time I wasn't able to understand half of them because I needed subtitles, so I watched the ones that had them and it helped me so much in so many ways. Thanks to you I became interested in English in the first place, so three years later I could listen and understand so many people all around the world, including, now, you. I learned about cinematography, symbolism, character arc, plot and much more with your videos. Here was a start for me to keep searching and watching films analysis, essay videos and I literally didn't even know these things existed before I found you. You made me appreciate much better Sherlock, but you made me love your language and cinema too. If I am where I am now, if now I can return to home, finally see again your videos, this time fully capable of understanding everything you said, that's all because of you. You really changed my life, as well as Sherlock, even with the terrible ending we received. Thank you very much. I'll keep coming back every time for a new discovery, that's for sure.

I've never seen anybody happier and more beautiful than you look in this video, Rebekah. I'm not a Johnlock shipper, but it's obvious that Sherlock and John as avatars for gay relationships have made your life better. I think that's a great thing for all TJLC advocates, a very positive part of your life that fickle writers cannot take away. Thank you for presenting your case with a passion born of your love for the background material. You have done well in representing the greatest gift that fans can bring to the world: an honest creative response to the creative gambit of the writer. Your vision deserves to be considered independently. Again, thank you.

Five months have passed, and I am still here. I don't know where you are now, but I hope you all the best. You are brave and devoted and creative, your TJLCE video introduces TJLC to me and gradually made me into TJLC theory. I still can't get over series 4, guess you are the same, so you chose to leave. But I still hold the hope that you may visit here some day and see my sincere gratitude to you for spending time bringing us the awesome TJLCE video. We are still working on translating your video into Chinese and hope more people to see them, even it's now. Even it is what it is, and what it is is shit. But know this, TJLC is all what makes sense. The shitty S4, in truth, proved that TJLC was the only solution for the show and still is. YOU ARE GREAT, Rebs. Thank you.

Truly is the end of an era. I know there will no longer be videos uploaded here, but I think all of us appreciate the positivity you gave us. I felt so loved, so understood when I watched TJLC explained. I felt so accepted, that I wasn't just a freak seeing something that wasn't there. Now I've been stripped away of that privilege and I feel like an idiot but...your positivity will always make me smile. I'm sure everyone is glad to have found this place. This community was everything. It was so nice and the most pleasant thing I've encountered. With all the negativity pouring down on us, I think I'll use this time to just binge watch TJLC. Thank you for everything and goodbye for now. Until the LBGT community has some major representation again.

I feel so honored to be living this moment. To be right here, right now. Having decided to watch this show and finding the right way to do so. To literally taking Sherlock Holmes' part and looking at everything so closely. TJLC opened my eyes to something groundbreaking and history changing and I couldn't be more grateful. It is so humbling to be part of this HUGE thing with so many awesome people. I could write 221 words ending with John but wouldn't be able to stress it enough. Sherlock is so much more than a british television show and we get to experience it!! as it happens!! we were the ones who listened!! how lucky are we? thank you, thank you, thank you. see you all in 2017.

I want to write this comment again, because I keep coming back to your videos, they are so inspiring and you have always been right! Even though the writers completely messed up series 4, it's amazing to still have your videos, to discover how beautiful this love story is, to see how it all fits together. Johnlock is basically canon already, we didn't need a kiss although it would have been epic and of course very important for many people. But Rebekah please know that what you have done is more important than the kiss ever was! TJLC Explained has ment so much to so many people. I know I love it more than I ever loved BBC's Sherlock! So thank you

John and Sherlock. Sherlock and John. Please never forget how much you are loved by us all and how you were so so right. It's not your fault the writers didn't deliver. I have a note left to offer in this grey tuesday morning to you and to the other conspirators: thank you. You have single-fandomly turned a flat-falling tv series in a real life detective story. It was endless fun to search for clues and anxiously wait for your next video. Tjlc was a source of constant excitement for so many people. No matter how it ended, you were right. I know because I'm the person least likely to turn into a conspirator, yet the ridiculous amount of proofs and reasoning left 0 doubt. I'll be waiting for the writers/producers explanation, because, as you showed me, the burden of proof of what-the-hell-happened falls on them at this point. p.s. You're gorgeous and for every lesbian irene adler sherlock turned magically straight, I assure you there are straight women whom your smile turned -if not lesbian- questioning. Rebekah, I just wanted to thank you for creating this series, as it was how I was introduced to TJLC. I never really interacted with the community beyond reblogging other people's content and listening to their theories, but watching it all from the sidelines still fascinated me and gave me hope for proper lgbt+ representation. The concept of BBC Sherlock being a great romance kept me going, and I was enthusiastic for the day that John and Sherlock's love would become obvious. Just the hope that John was bisexual like I am made me feel overjoyed. And even though it didn't work out in the end, you still introduced me to the hope. So thank you for your amazing videos and enthusiasm, and for introducing me to introducing me to textual analysis and the idea that we as a community deserve explicit gay representation and romances, not just half-assed side characters. Yes, I am sad, but I am ready for the future and filled with enough fucking spite to fuel me for the rest of my life. I hope you will continue to spend time on tumblr, because I will miss seeing your blog on my dash. But, in the end, I hope the best for you and all of us, and I hope for a better future. Sincerely, a teenage former TJLCer, and member of the LGBT+ Community

Seriously makes me cry to know how big this is, I don't think its just the representation, but the fact that this show has been with us YEARS, and the stories hundreds of years! In that context it is a big deal to have those characters be in a relationship, and it has never been done before in any similar way! And I guess just a part of me is so happy it will be such a big thing - its really something to celebrate, as a person who grew up wondering why I wasn't really attracted to male leads in shows, or why the same sex characters had more chemistry and were better off without straight romantic interests, or didn't know what bisexual was - I am really excited to know that this will be here for younger generations. Two of the best known characters in literature are gonna be in a relationship and will be able to get married maybe - aaah! (My train of thought was going to be a lot more coherent, but idk how else to describe the nuances of this concept into words!)

I don't know if I have ever commented on an episode of TJLC Explained since I watched those first episodes all those months ago, but now seems as fitting a time as ever! I just wanted to say a massive thank you for this series Rebekah. Your videos have always been exciting, thought provoking, informative and entertaining and have had a profound affect on not only how I watch and perceive Sherlock, but all forms of media. Little did I know when I first found this channel how large an effect they would have on my life over the last year and how much closer they would bring me to the TJLC community. I always believed in johnlock, from when I first discovered the show in 2013, but like so many others I doubted if such an incredible piece of representation could happen on mainstream TV. These videos have proved to me beyond all doubt that we are right and that we are about to witness something incredible. I am proud to be a part of TJLC! I really can't express how much I appreciate the work that you and countless others have put into this series :) Thank you, for helping me believe x

I love all your work Rebekah, and I'm really hoping you read this because I need you to know how much I have loved and appreciated your hard work in this series. We did not get the result we wanted, we did not get the result we deserved. But on the way your videos brought me happiness, and I am ever grateful for that. All of my best wishes to you in this shitty time, and know that you have made a difference in my mood these past few months for the better. xxxxxx

It's actually fucking heartbreaking to come back to this particular video, because it makes me so sad to see you soooo excited for something that turned out to be complete shit. I still love the show, but it's just sad to think that pretty much the entire TJLC/Johnlock community is gone now. Rebekah, I know from your twitter that you are pretty much done with the show. And honestly, I can't blame you for that. But if you read this, for some reason, i really miss your videos about sherlock and if you really THINK there is going to be a '5th act', why not carry on? Please, one more miracle, for us

I am completely unconvinced that series 4 is the last series. They've been saying for ages that Martin and Ben are too busy to do the show so they're not sure there'll be another one. Since at least series 2. And now we're on series 4. Yeah, sure they're busy and it takes time, but they never let it stop them before. It means we have to wait longer, but we're used to that. Maybe considering that both of them now have Marvel commitments they're especially busy, but I think what'll end up happening is that we still get a series 5 or perhaps even further than that. Maybe the Marvel commitments are the reason that series 4 ended the way that it did, or maybe they were just closing a chapter and are ready to open a new one whenever series 5 does roll around. But, I'm not convinced the show is finished. Even Moftiss stop short of saying definitely that this was the last series. So, I think they've still got their long game going, they're not finished and even though the actors are super busy they aren't going to rush it just to get it done in time as a "just in case" venture. They're going to do it right. I loved the way series 4 ended because if they weren't going to make Johnlock openly canon then they are about as close to it as they can get without actually going for it. We'll get another series eventually and continue on the journey until finally it is openly canon. And then, only then, can we worry that we might not get another series after that. We were off on our timeline, not on our conclusion.

I know plenty of people said that already, but thank you. You're an inspiration under many levels, and your videos and this community (even if I'm not an active part of it) made me question myself and hugely changed me. That is such a difficult thing to do, to speak to other people's minds and hearts through an idea, through the truth of a story that doesn't even exists in the real world, but nonetheless can "make history", and not just generally in the world, but also personally, it makes your history. I wouldn't have had the privilege to fully experience that without you and your friends, and I can't express how grateful I am for that.

You're probably never going to see this comment but I finished watching Sherlock a couple of days ago and I saw Johnlock immediately and I stumbled into these videos after I was finished and you were right I thought and saw so many of the things you said and these videos helped me see even more and they were so fun and entertaining to watch and thank you so much for making them Johnlock was real and it should have been canon

There was written "13th" on a post it on Mycroft's fridge so i researched what happened on the 13th of January and apparently an Ideal Husband by Wilde started on this date in 1895 ?!?

What if it's NOT the 13th of January? What if it's the 13th EPISODE, which happens to be... THE FINAL PROBLEM! Look closely, there's a picture of elephant near that sticker...another confirmation?

SPOILERS I think that the writers did not have to tell us that Sherlock and John were in love, they showed it to us. And in the end, they became parents. Two men raising a child. Maybe in their minds, they named them thousand times that they were a couple, and that they were in love, by showing us how much they loved each other and of making other characters say it out loud. Because even in the books it was implied, it was never told. It was implied. So, if they wanted to make it like the book, but in the 21st century, they succeeded. Because they never told us by making them say it out loud, does not mean that they did not love romantically or more, each other. Arthur Conan Doyle never said it out loud. They did not either. That is what I think. And even if you think of the last episodes, Sherlock's sister made Sherlock tell Molly he loved her because she wanted to torture him and John by saying " i love you" to another person. Because she knew too how much Sherlock loved John and how much they loved each other. also, i saw in Tumblr that when Sherlock says to Molly he loves her, the camera is focused on Sherlock looking at John through the mirror i think. so yea, he said it to John. Also the sister, made John go to the well, like their younger brother, to torture him. His sister disguised herself as an image of Sherlock and John's in each other, in order to make them fall for her, ( even if for Sherlock was as a friend bc he is gay). Why? Because she knew they loved each other. In order to capture them and torture them. I'm still not into her arc bc i do not get why she did that, even if she was a tortured child, she was 100% the sociopath. And not Sherlock. So, i would not give her redemption but what can I say? For me, the writers made it certain that John and Sherlock were into each other. And by the end, they started raising a child. Maybe their love is far more that of romance, and platonic, is that of soulmates. And thank god we have fanfictions for that.

I just want to thank you for this past year. I had always known that something was up with John and Sherlock but I had serious doubts. The first video I saw of yours was the video 'Sherlock is Gay' or something along those lines haha. Ever since then I was hooked, and although I know you can't take all the credit, this series is probably the most brilliant analysis I have ever seen and will ever see. I'm so excited for series 4 and defiantly 100% more prepared for it after seeing all of your videos! Thank you again and happy New Year!

Rebekah, I want to say thank you for making these videos and taking the time to go over the Johnlock love story in detail. Before I watched these episodes I was shipping Johnlock but not expecting it to become cannon, because let's face it, gay ships almost never do. I was also starting to realize I was bisexual at the time and my parents' unintentional homophobic comments about tv shows was becoming extremely depressing. There came a point were I accidentally said "just kiss him!" while watching Sherlock and my mum said "stop obsessing over gay relationships". Then I discovered these videos, and with each video I watched the more I began to believe. They made me realize that John and Sherlock can be together, even if they aren't making it blatant with neon signs saying 'GAY!' My parents made me believe that to like people of the same gender you have to act a certain way, but TJLC proves you don't. The TJLC community and your videos especially have made me feel so much better about myself, and have given me hope that one day people like my parents will see that character traits don't define your sexuality.

I'd just like to thank you so much for all you have done. TJLC has completely turned my life around and I can not wait for it to unfold before everyone 💕 I wrote a poem (I'm such a sap. inspired by the 221b poem x) for you guys because you all mean the world to me. Poem for TJLC Huddled at our screens we eagerly await The next chapter of our story, the climax of our tale From Love Conquers All, to Arwel, to Babygate Together we’ll watch our ship set sail. Softly, softly the story unfurled before us These two men of note and their ridiculous adventures Brought to life again (not that they were ever dead) By crafty, clever Moftiss with Queen Sue Vertue at the head. A Study in Pink to the Abominable Bride You brought us shocks and sadness, we wept side by side Yet always the fun remained no matter how dark things got We blogged, we tweeted and instagrammed; we obsessed over Andrew Scott And now I turn to you, the reader of this post Whether you agree or not you can be sure without a doubt These two men love each other, they’ve to be proven wrong yet It’s as plain as the elephant in the room or that water is wet ;) To all my fellow believers: The 130 year wait is over now, the clock is ticking down Our Meta, analysis and cluing for looks make way for one last bow. We were born to make history, what a time to be alive! Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are finally leaving 1895.

Rebekah, I wish to thank you very much, for the past three months have been very difficult. You and the TJLC community have helped my sanity, and Johnlock was one of the sole comforts I had before my mind became a better place again. I will only be able to watch the first episode of series four, but I will be going to Japan from January 6 to 20. It is a dream come true for me, for I have wanted to go to Japan since I was nine years old and thought I would never graduate from high school because I was stupid and struggled with people who were normal. Two weeks into my third year Japanese class, I was told that no matter how hard I studied the language, I would never understand, I would fail the course, and my requests for accommodations would not "be fair" to the other students. I felt that I was eight years old again and being told it was sad that I could not tie my shoes. It took a while, and I am still struggling, but I wish to thank you from the depth of my beating heart for your existence.
