@@brettwood1351 Honestly, even then, you'd need alarmingly little work to make a G1-accurate Metroplex without those problems. Metroplex is honestly one of the more poseable G1 toys (shoulders, wrists, waist, hips), so all you'd need to do is add elbows, knees, and a neck and let the fists slide out. Maybe find something to do with those plates that go on his legs, too. But yeah, Metroplex feels like they designed the city and the robot in tandem, while most modern takes feel like they designed the robot first and then contorted it into a rough city shape.

Honestly at this scale stability is my concern over posability. Realistically this thing should be a set and forget giant playset. A transforming display for your other figures. Like this is a diorama backdrop, a set piece for a display. No one is realistically sitting down and fiddling with a child sized transformer. I think for the right collector something like that wouldn’t be too crazy, maybe pose a relevant collection on this very large and impressive piece. But like a 4 foot tall action figure plastic joints and all, who is that even for? Even if you had the money and the space what would you do with this thing other than display it in its meh city mode. Why sacrifice display value for any semblance of normal transformer joints when it’s never going to be used like a normal transformer due to its scale?

Buy it needs to be made of lighter materials more simplistic so the transformation doesn’t break your back it needs to be accurate I would even be ok with a giant figure that’s like an authentics figure because then it would be lightweight enough to play with.

Well... this is neat and ridiculous. First, I'll get this out of the way, I'm not a Cityformer guy. To me Cityformers are a concept that are stupendous in fiction that in toy form really just looks like a robo doing some really extreme yoga so the fact it doesn't transform that much isn't a problem. What gets me is the size. I think in particular about the fact I'm the owner of one of those crazy big MonsterVerse Godzillas because I wanted a Godzilla that was gigantic and while I love it to pieces... it's too big. There is barely any room for it even to stand tall and proud thanks to the tail and even removing the small part of it you have to attach after unboxing doesn't help much. He was the toy that taught me that sometimes just because a character is big doesn't mean they need to be gargantuan because there's a certain threshold where a toy goes from being fun to unwieldy. I think about what Thew suffered at the hands of Haslab Unicron and go "Whoever transforms this thing is gonna need a stiff drink and a nap once it's all over.".

This isn’t W-Resources’ first rodeo. Their previous figure was a toddler-sized Optimus Prime that transforms into a pumpkin-sized truck. This figure, called Lewin Resources Atlas, didn’t seem to have any durability issues and was reissued a few times. Also, you’re paying for the visual impact and presence of a 4 feet tall Transformer, not for the play value. This is why people are willing to pay +1000 USD for the Haslab Unicron. Personally, I think this figure looks amazing, but I will wait for the early adopters to stress test this thing before taking the plunge.

Agree with most of the video, save one inaccuracy: the first CAD model we saw of this was presented by Lewin Resources, who does have a (pretty sizeable) toy to their name. They released a 28" KO of MP-10 with chrome, LEDs, the works back in 2018. Clearly not on the same scale as this Metroplex, but at least they aren't brand new on the scene.

This is the year of Metroplex extremes. W-Resources Steel Fortress, over 4 feet tall. And soon, we have Dr. Wu Iron Fortress, under 4 inches. I have room for _that_ one. He won't sag under his own weight. Won't require freight shipping. Includes Scamper, Slammer, and Sixgun. Base mode feels at least on par with Generations. Battle station mode feels decently differentiated from base mode. A 4th cube mode that fits into a 52toys box charger (including his guns and minions). Comparable in price to some of those 52toys cubes. And Dr. Wu has had plenty of releases before. "Prodigous size has no intrinsic merit."

This thing is kinda like a good sized statue you see in a comic or toy shop of the Hulk. it looks cool there, gets your attention, but it's gonna look less cool at home. Only the statue is a more solid piece and doesn't have the issues this is gonna. The Square Cube Law is a harsh misstress.
