Amazing job! It was cracking me up when you said you had about 6 books and then every time you came back in the frame you had more and more. It is so great your husband is involved (he did an amazing job too). Alas, my hubby won't even consider getting rid of his books. When I asked him about it, he tells me he is keeping them all - we are talking hundreds of hardback books. My husband has poor vision and can only read with a Kindle on large print. He hasn't read a physical book in 8 years.

I truly was amused watching this! I just started my own book purge and got rid of four bags so far. That's garbage bags! So many things I intended to read or thought were sentimental. I laughed when you muttered, "Like I'll read this again..." because that's the exact same thing I said to my own textbooks! Felt good to get rid of things, but I have a lot more to go through so it will be a process. For everything else, there is the library.

People really are attached to their books. I got rid of my textbooks years ago. People often keep them as validation of what they have accomplished. It should be enough that one knows they earned a degree. You are doing such a great job decluttering. You always shine as things are let go. Thanks for sharing your progress. By the way, do you live in Palm Springs? Seems like it's unusually hot where you live.👍🏼

It's taken me 3 hours just to get the books down/out and sort out, that's without the cookbooks downstairs. I've got rid of half my collection, but now I have to put the keeps back. Boy you need to me fit to do this. I think I can get rid of more, just not today, I'm too pooped to do much more. OMG I forgot the magazines, I don't have many of those though, about 12 so that isn't going to be that hard. PS I must have started with about 500 books, so I'm down to about 250, I'll count them up and let you know.

Great video...I let go of all my books, they collect dust, I just google information and use the library.When you see how much space they take up, you see it's just another way to attach to ,'stuff.'

But it only miss the herdest part, which is actualy tossing them :P I don't know why every KonMari videos, nobody film that, it always feel to me like those movies that have an abrupt ending ahah. For years I took the stuff, smile sweetly, even though inside I was so vexed lol. Then one day with a weak voice, I said no thanks (the guilty/ almost 'how dare you refuse' look followed) but the more I refused to take other people's clutter, the more confident I became in saying no thanks. Which to some people will sound crazy, and to others it'll make perfect sense. I call it the curse of politeness lol xxx

Thanks again. And thanks to Zandra Rhodes who was interviewed when I was 19. She said in the interview the longer you keep magazines the harder it is to get rid of them if she could go back to being 19 she would not keep magazines and she had 9ft high columns.

Great video. Thanks for uploading. For anyone who collects magazines - you may notice articles being repeated in later editions. I noticed that, I had seen an article before and then realised that a magazine publisher recycles their articles every few years (so you are buying magazines that you may have read 20% of a few years back. With kindle it is so much easier to avoid the clutter.

ImmortalTara same here - I leave magazines in hotel. Used to leave books but have kindle now. You will start to notice the repeats now. It takes a few years to repeat, but they do repeat.

I know I'm late to the comment game but you should have given the magazines back to the neighbor, thanks I'm done with them. Let her deal with taking them out to the recycling!!! We also take on other peoples stuff unwittingly somehow. We also take on body clutter as well.

books and papers are the hardest to go through. I only kept 7 books and 5 cookbooks out of almost 100. I just bought 4 new ones though. 2 of which are Marie Kondo's. I alos got rid of two book by mistake and I think I will just buy them again.

i recently just purged my magazine, i had over 200 magazine alone! It was so embarrassing seeing my obsession with j-14, seventeen and teen vogue from 10 years ago. Such a waste of money, i used to buy them all!

Hey Anna...remember this method is about keeping the items that bring you joy :} If your novels do so, you don't have to let them go...Maybe start with other books you are not as attached with and slowly take it from there...Just think, what if 5 years ago you had to purge your magazines? You probably would not have been ready like you recently did right? But now you were ready mentally and emotionally to let go of 200+ of them, which is outstanding! I can understand how you don't want to hurt your neighbor's feelings so, next time take the books say thank you and then take them to the trash can so you can get rid of them with out her knowing and with out hurting her feelings

If you don't like the magazines give them to a friend or donate them then instead of feeling mean and saying no you pas them along to someone who will love them (or you could say no thankyou )
