Lovely. If mine I would have tried an elliptical mask in Lightroom around the bridge all the way to reflection and lightened a bit and add warmth.

Dave the thing I most appreciate and learn from is the choices you make for lightening & darkening areas. This is what I feel is my weakest point. Some things, like the rocks being too light are obvious but as we get closer to the end of the video the choices, at least to me, are not. Then, when you do the final before/after, I'm just amazed. Every single time!! Thanks so much, Tony

Thank you so much Dave for using my photo for this week’s TK Fridays! I really enjoyed seeing your approach and how to fix problems areas such as those rocks. The sun was coming up behind the bridge and on later shots I got a nice glow shining over but it really hit those darn rocks! Anyway thanks again!!

In several places in TK panel we can choose a gray 1/2 or transparent 1/2 tool button. Often you say they have different purposes, but often does not matter which to use. I imagine the gray is easier to correct later or make a change? My suggestion is you do 1 Fri video explaining all the "dual" (1/2 or other 1/2) buttons and what are pros/cons for each and example when it is important to use one instead of other 1/2...and why. Thanks!

Dave - As ususal, very nicely done. Always interesting to see how multiple tools might solve the same issue one is trying to correct.

Hi Dave. I've been using TK for a while now but have a question: At 3' 38" you output to a colour grading tool. I see that the curve icon on the left in the layers palette is selected to then make the adjustment. If I instead select the mask icon on the right I get the same result when making the shadow adjustment (or indeed mids or highlights). The same applies when adjusting a background or subject selection. Am I missing something basic here? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if I am understanding you correctly. For instance, if you click on the Gray Mid Tone Button, are the Mid Tones getting adjusted on the curve (the center point of the curve goes up or down) or if you click the Black Shadow Button are the shadows being adjusted (the left point on the curve moves to the right when darkening and up when lightening)? If you click the White Button, are the highlights being adjusted (the right top point of the curve moves to the left when lightening or moves down when darkening)? It doesn't matter if the curve layer icon is selected or the mask icon is selected you should get the same results, which is what you would want. Also, when you add a new Color Grading Tool the layer mask is selected by default. If you output a Color Grading Tool with a mask, then the curves layer icon is selected.

@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks so much for the reply Dave. Yes, you confirmed what I thought, namely that it doesn't matter whether you select the curve layer icon or the mask icon, the same result is achieved. I just wasn't sure why. Cheers!
