TK-Star Motorbike GPS Tracker - 2 Years on Review

I've had it for 2 years now and as my bike has never been nicked it's been completely useless but at the same time brilliant.

Having it connected permanently live to your battery do you find it drains the battery?

@Edmond Ironside - For the £38 I paid for the unit from Amazon, and only £6 a month for GiffGaff's basic 500mb a month SIM card. I found the TK905 (in active mode) provides relatively accurate tracking information. The vibration sensing option, when not around the protected machine. Sensing sensitivity isn't adjustable, which makes it prone to false alarm notifications, especially when leaving it in heavy traffic locations. The SMS method you're using, is too cumbersome, I prefer using the android app to perform the same tasks allot easier. No need to remember and send endless SMS messages, the app makes it convenient to adjust the tracker's settings and monitor GPS tracking in real time. Thanks for reviewing the TK905. Lastly Don't trust the IP waterproof rating, if you unscrew the casing, you'll notice no gaskets around the lid and a very loose fitting (non-water tight) rubber bung covering the SIM card/charging ports.

Thanx for the vid. Great info. I've got mine but yet to install it on my bike. Glad it's still working.shows it's well worth it. I can't live track mine though. I take it that's to do with the apn you mentioned. I'll have a read through the more in depth instructions. Thanx again 👍🏻

Edmund Ironside yeah I've been reading through it. So cool that you can call the device and actually listen in. Very smart. I still can't live track though. I've sent all info and gone to the web page and done all it said but when I go to real time tracking it only shows my phone and not the device. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It says it's offline but I don't know how to put it online

The only issue i ever had was when I forgot about having the data bolt on, set up all the APN stuff but because I didn't have a data bolt on set up on the sim card no data got passed to the App

Does this have a tilt switch or accelerometer? Be handy if you receive a text if the bike is being moved or disturbed eg trying to break a steering lock etc

quick question.... have you tried testing the bike location tracking while it is inside your garage or underground

So looked in to this product for a while now. Watched this video multiple times. Can anyone help me with the adim bit I only want the tracker to reply to my phone but have tried it with other phones and it replies to them

@@Chris-qv7xe so I got this working but found that once the device had been turned off and back on that it would reset. But now I have the device wired directly to my vehicle and it is constantly on charge it never resets and if a wonderful gadget to keep peace of mind

I've looked at the manual you pointed us to and it uses 123456 a lot but doesn't say what it is. Is this a password that can be changed do you know?

Thanks for making the effort to post this update. I also have one of these trackers but find the app very ambiguous and difficult to use. Any more videos on the way on how to use the app? Thanks.

How long have you had the tracker?

About 4 or 5 months. It's all working fine and I use the data option to keep a track on my journeys. It's just the app side of things that is not that intuitive.

I have just watched your newly added video and you have identified some important info that I was not aware of, thanks I will be checking it out. Although all the facilities seem to be working on the app they are poorly described and seem a little hit and miss on the arming and disarming. I think a lot of people could take advantage of the move alarm eg if on holiday or parked in a vulnerable spot if it were more reliable in setting. Thanks again for your videos.

What would happen if the bike was parked in a shipping container just down the road from me where the mobile coverage is poor?

I suppose it would depend on how quickly you realised the bike was stolen, all these trackers depend on the ability to broadcast their location so they'll all be affected by poor signal. My tracker works within my garage (metal roof) and I'm not in a great signal location. As I said if my bike was stolen turning on GPRS would increase the accuracy but would also allow you to see the historical track of the device using the App or Web interface. If I didn't realise my bike was stolen and they managed to get it to a dead zone for signal before I managed to turn GPRS on then it would be useless.

That would make no difference the GPS co-ordinates are being sent from the Unit it has no connection to the Mobile so it doesn't matter if the mobile is next to the bike or in Melbourne Australia.

basicly you are paying internet for live tracking mode (app)...once your data is zero you cant live gps track....only google map link ...its like having two phones lol two bills :-)

You just use a Pay as You Go sim and if your bike gets stolen you add a Data package

mate.. had to give u a down finger.. u want on and on about it and don't really understand the system which leads to confusion.. instead I suggest you do a proper walk thro exercise.. 28mins.. and no one is any wiser other than the fact that you need to register your idea number to get web interaction..
