Hey Andrew if you ever get fleas in the house when the dogs come in this works to. Just at dark when you turn out the lights put a shallow 12" x12" cake pan under wall outlet with a small nite light add a 1" of water to the pan and about 6 or 8 drops of dish soap soap breaks the surface tension so the flea sink and drown the nite light attracts them. Put a pan and lite in each room you have a pan of dead fleas you have to leave the pans out long anuff to break the egg cycle if you didnt catch them quick anuff think 2 to 4 week on egg cycle . i have dogs they never bothered the pans just keep eye on dogs. told this to a lot of friends they had great luck too.

Yep, the soap mix works great! I've been using it for years. My experience has been any liquid soap will work. I've used old car wash soap that had been sitting around for a few years. I use a heavier mix than you, maybe a cup of soap per gallon of water. Overkill perhaps but it's cheap. I fill the jug with water first then add the soap and shake. I find I get mostly suds if I add the water to the soap. When I spray, I really flood the nest and wasps. Be generous with the spray; it's cheap! It's amazing how quickly and effectivly the mix works! Thanks for posting.

Great video Andrew. For your viewers always add water first and then the chemical wherever you put into the sprayer second, so you stop the foaming action. That same mixture of water and soap is great for a clean your plants of the bug's fecal matter off the plants.

Also saw this before (regarding the adding of pure peppermint oil). Plus it smells nice. Wasp Spray (homemade) one spray bottle of water 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Dawn dishwashing liquid (dish soap neutralizes the wasp) 10 drops (for a spray bottle) of pure peppermint oil. Use plenty. Can be bought at Trader Joes etc. There are about 450 drops in one ounce.

You hit the point I was going to make, treat the nests after sundown or before sunrise, when the entire family is on the nest...a cooler morning or evening is even better as they will be less likely to fly away before getting soaked. Also, if you use warm water when you are mixing, your soap will mix faster and more thoroughly.

Ground nests have been my issue. I mix dish soap with a gallon of vinegar in a bucket and douse the ground with the entire bucket. Works very well. To prevent wasps in a small space like under the lid of the propane tank I put a sleeve of mothballs in that area. They don’t like the smell and that also works well. I put a fresh sleeve in the desired area every spring.

I wonder if the canned chemical stuff is banned in other countries. I feel as if America is number 1 in so much good, but we're also high on the list for putting government and large conglomerates first. You're 100% right about the chemical companies not wanting us to know about this, but if it ever catches on, they'll twist the marketing to get us on something else! Great video!

Around the turn of the century people used to paint their porch ceilings light blue. Apparently the color mimics the sky and wasps are much less likely to nest there. It has worked very well for us on the lake in the Tampa Bay area. Try painting those wood surfaces sky blue! Good luck. BTW, your soap mixture also works well on your plants and beds. My grandmother used to spread Borax in her garden.

I don't know why I tried it, but I put sudsy ammonia in a spray bottle and with it on the misting setting, it knocked down the fruit flies even better than the soapy water did the wasps. Of course, I had to vacate the area...but the dang fruit flies were goners.
