No way can we ever afford anything like y'all have. However I really appreciate all the building tips to save money on a new build. We're buying 2 1/2 acers here in Oklahoma. And we're just happy to get a used single wide trailer to fix up. We live in our 5th wheel and trust me it ain't glamorous 😅. We don't get to travel. As a professional builder , I would highly suggest to take extreme caution with any kind of battery system, they often burn,and when they do, it’s a disaster. As for myself, I plan to live a lifestyle like youreself sometime in the future, but I plan on building a basement of concrete reinforced walls just for storage of batteries. They are highly hazardous in a house...

@@TzUuup i like to Think he is a busy person,and he didn’t see my comment 😃 But I can’t understand why he put the main battery storage next to the gas and diesel tanks on the wood shed, and inside the house in the pantry storage( food is very flammable, believe it or not 😃). Both places can become bombs in case of a battery fire. I’ve seen some fires in my life, but nothing compares to a battery fire.

Brandon, thank you for this. My wife and I ordered our AG barn style pole barn kit from Strouds Buildings and we're starting our build next week. We put one 12x30 up a few months ago to put our RV in, and I'm impressed with how quick and simple the whole setup was. It took me five days. Just FIVE days! Crazy. I like it. I would not have a pool, but in the same area a raised garden and the huge porches, I would have closed in with windows and screens to be 4 seasons porches. I also would like a woodburning cook stove on the porch and inside along with all electrical appliances inside including the regular stove. I don't really care for high ceilings, so I would have raised that and made an upstairs. The 4 season porch could then extend upward to the upstairs as well. Oh, I forgot to add that I would like lanterns all along all the walls just in case the electricity goes out. That is where the woodburning cookstoves on the porch and in the kitchen would help heat. Yes, the kitchen would have two stoves. One woodburning and the other electrical. I like the idea of large farm sinks everywhere. I like the idea of no bathtubs. Only showers. And I like the idea of half baths with large farm sinks. I would need two downstairs and two upstairs. Showers upstairs. The bedrooms are all upstairs. Downstairs would be split into three areas. One single large center for family holidays and on each side of the house a room where the men can go and the women on the other side. Games. Player piano. TVs and CD movie machines along with at least one good old-time radio with speakers throughout the house. I like the idea of having double doors to enter and upstairs a double door and a pulley system to lower the floor from the upstairs to take furniture upstairs more easily without having to use the stairwell. Solar Cells and a couple of wind turbines that look like windmills. A joined car garage with a drain so I may wash the car inside the garage and above the garage a studio with a small kitchenette and single fold up/fold down wall bed. Oh, yes. I like the idea of no carpet anywhere.

If I own this home, the area that has the black metal in the high traffic area, I would put a permanent stool there that cannot be moved stopping people from standing and bending over that corner. They would be forced to sit down, that way their jackets, zippers would not be rubbing up against the metal.

The update full review was extremely helpful. THANK YOU. I have 2 inquiries. the open rafters of your outdoor living space...have birds and pests found it as a haven? How do you evict them? AND does the humidifier collect a measurable amount of water? (Florida I am sure that can't be duplicated in other states) do you reserve for garden etc? Confirmation: Hubby has to sleep in the artic. We have always had a separate A/C for the sleeping chamber (no closets/rr either!) and agree to really fortify your walls and ceilings. Sound deadening is not the same as insulation-advise to do both so you can nap through anything, any hour of the day. He did some wizardy that tricks our ac condenser in the winter to cycle below the 62-degree factory setting. Snow on the ground, the a/c will not serve you cold air without the wizardry. THANKS AGAIN!

Something I have done is when I build large showers, I put the valve near the entrance and the shower head away from the entrance. There is no need to have the valve located right under the shower head as is normally done. I also try to eliminate the shower door. Very little splash will get out of an opening 6 feet from the shower head.

I really enjoyed your videos. I just watched a bunch back to back. Our living situations are night and day. I'm a Brit living in the mountains of Mongolia. My wife and I live in a yurt camp which is also a tourist camp. I was mainly interested in making our outdoor terrace more useful for more of the year. The drop down shades were interesting. We have to make most of our own stuff. There's much less available off the shelf. We up-cycle a lot of stuff, rather than buy new. We don't have the funds to buy new commercial stuff.

You can powder coat that edge of the counter. Clean it, put the powder on and use a heat gun to cure powder.

I like the outside area, but along with the chipping paint may I offer a solution? You do not have enough sinks. On that corner, cut the counter height down to the kitchen counter height, and add a hand sink right there. You also do not have enough fridges. Additionally, while you have 6 burners for the outside stove and a griddle next to it, the floor is not wide enough. When you have 6 to 12 burners you need or you invite help, and having room for persons to travel to the sink, get to a fridge, and do tasks without having to collide is a distinct benefit.

I can agree with wanting the window taller, but with that being said i think if you had gone much taller you woulda also needed to go wider or risk it lookin a little oddly tall and narrow. Right now the proportions are perfect for what is already there.
