WTF has it's benefits in that Kicking is generally not a Prime Focus in most Martial Arts because the fact is, Kicking is harder than Punching. Of course Boxers are really good at punching in that it too is something that has a large skill gap. If there was a ITF Dojang nearby, I would be scrambling over there like a F35.

Love the channel! But thugs materializing out of thin air or from sewers is a real problem in my country, so you better take that into account before generalizing. Greeetings from the mushroom kingdom!

19:01 I think that's correct, that's why the stance is hunched over much like a Wrestler/Jiu-Jitsu practioner. So even before Jiu-Jitsu (Kano Judo) came to Brazil, Capoeira already existed.

I can NOT stop over-rotating for a back kick. I am being advised not to look over my shoulder, that it would help me keep my shoulders and hips squared. What do you think? Do you have any other remedies, or exercises I can practice?

In Koryo, the stepping side kicks step in front as opposed to behind. What are your thoughts on that choice?

Can you suggest practice exercises my 9 year old daughter can do on her own, since she will be missing a lot of classes since she will be spending a lot of time with her grandparents this summer? I want to make sure she doesnt lose her momentum. Thanks!

Nice try! The moment the sewer people catch you slipping is when they get you! Never let your guard down around sewer pipes! Also, it's been a pleasure being here with you and everyone else. I don't have much to ask nowadays since I still don't have the time to sign up for another class but it's always nice to listen to your videos.

Hey thanks for reading my comment. I’m basically famous now. What kind of royalties are we looking at? 😂 I didn’t mean to imply because kids do TKD that it’s only for kids. I would completely agree that’s not true. I was just trying to be brief but that didn’t go super well. TKD is the only martial art I’ve seen that offers “family” classes. Meaning there’s no age requirement. Just anyone 6 and up are in the same class. That’s far from an optimal way to learn. My comment was mostly relating to the TKD schools that make their facilities or their advertisements look like a daycare though. There’s 4 TKD schools in my metro area and 2 of them have cartoon characters painted all over the walls and in their logos. The marketing is geared directly at parents of young kids. They don’t compete at all and have twice as many kids classes as adult classes. I’ve done drop in classes at all of these schools and there’s without a doubt a difference in the adult audience. These “cartoonish” schools I’ll call them have about 5 adults and they’re all parents of kids there. Imho those schools didn’t feel very welcoming to me as an adult over 30 without children. TKD seems to have a high number of schools that choose to represent themselves in a way that is uninviting to the average adult. MMA is kind of the opposite end of the spectrum. Most mma gyms have rock music on when you walk in, there’s fight gear for sale, and half the guys in there are covered in tattoos and shirtless. They frequently don’t seem super inviting to the average adult just looking for a good workout or to try something new. A lot of them still have kids classes though. There’s definitely a middle ground to be had. Right now as a whole I don’t think TKD does a great job including adults. Just my opinion based on going to the gyms I’ve visited over the years.

I do ITF and their are numerous organizations but to be honest I don't train with a dogmatic approach and I'm open to learning WT , ATA and even Tong so do. I'd like to do Kyokushin Karate as well having previously trained BJJ and still train Boxing along side my taekwon-do. Bottom line is the martial arts are great and theres tons to learn from all arts.

Disclaimer: This is not an attack on Atheists/Agnostics or any religion. As a fellow Christian, do you think being a believer would make someone a better TKD practitioner (or any Martial Art) than if they weren't a believer? I feel like being Spiritually strong can help assist one's skills. Now obviously if someone prays before competing in a fight, that's not a 100% guaranteed win, but I feel like God or whoever you believe in could instill some form of confidence giving you a slight edge. Perhaps you or someone you know within the TKD community have experienced a miracle? I know this question sounds far fetched so I don't blame you for answering.

Some people I have talked to about taking taekwondo classes say it’s not fulfilling or fun, but it of course takes work to find that fulfillment and fun. With that in mind I ask, how would you explain taekwondo classes to someone who doesn’t understand the benefits of practicing it, and why some people practice it over other martial arts?
