Fr Torterra is much better in the league than Infernape (mostly because half of the league can oneshot infernape)

Torterra is just terrible as a starter. It's just too slow and well Grass isn't that useful in Sinnoh. If you want a Grass type, just use a Roserade, it's fast and hits hard too. For ground type, grab a Gible. Easy.

@desiweabu1614 Gible takes way too much investment to be useful, and a big portion of the Sinnoh Dex is water type (in Diamond and Pearl) with only 2 fire and ice types each. Speed is not the only important stat in a playthrough of Pokemon. Bulk is important as well, and Infernape has none. (Not to mention, Gible has a terrible level up learnset, so you need to use the earthquake tm and other tms on it)

In my platinum playthrough I used Infernape, Staraptor (till reaching the league)/Garchomp( in the league), Luxray, Gyarados, Floatzel and Gliscor. Garchomp was the MVP in the league but throughout the playthrough Infernape and Luxray were the GOATs. This was the game which made me respect Luxray as much I do today. The Pokemon was my saving grace when put against the Last person in the Elite 4.

Abomasnow is so slept on. Wood hammering through berthas team and taking out Cynthia’s garchomp with blizzard a move it’s 4x weak too. Quagsire, wiscash, and gastrodon have no chance of surviving a wood hammer and ground type moves virtually don’t do anything due to its typing being grass and ice. Not to mention hail chipping away at its opponents health. A cheat-code.

My main team for gen 4 for Diamond Infernape Staraptor Garchomp/gastodon Luxray Weavile Roserade For Platinum: Infernape Staraptor Electivire/luxray Roserade Weavile/Frolass Gastarodon These where the easiest teams for a playrough I had with these teams infernape being a starter and one of the only fire types in the game made it so unbelievably easy as long as you had the right team to cover infernape for the things it can’t go through

First of all, it is slow, second of all it has 3 weakness, ground, fire and fighting, third of all it doesn't actually has levitate. I know because I have used it. It is more tanky than luxray but.......... You know, people don't like slow electric types

Is this a Diamond and Pearl team? If it's a Platinum team I'd recommend either Magnezone or Jolteon for your Electric type. Unfortunately you can't get Magnezone or Jolteon in Diamond and Pearl since they're not in the DP dex (one of the reasons why Platinum is better than DP)

I like Weavile but he is not a good choice for garchomp because he learns no ice physical moves by level up, you’ll have to mine for blue shards to teach him ice punch, your letter off teaching gastrodon ice beam or in platinum use glaceon and proc a quick claw (bonus points setting up hail for snow clock)

Luxray isn't even as good as people pretend it is. It is bad in the late game compared to Jolteon, Raichu and Magnezone because it has no physical moves above 80 BP and is too slow to do its job.

Infernape is only "good" in Gen 4 because there are literally only 5 fire Pokémon at the beginning (Chimchar, Monferno, Infernape, Ponyta, Rapidash) Even the "Fire type" elite four doesn't have fire type Pokémon. Empoleon is the best choice overall, period.
