My 24year old son is really keen to learn everything about Ifa. He wants to come to Nigeria and learn our ways and constantly say how westernised we all are. I am so grateful for this. Thank you for uploading.

I strongly believe until we, en-masse, get reconnected with our heritage (of course critique areas that are necessary for any society's development) then we as nations in Africa will struggle to truly progress. Only the enlightened progress, and we are mostly in pitch-black darkness.

Thank you very much Sir African wisdom was shred in secrcy and for this reason western education even though not perfect took over :) in Ifa is medicine and what have you but only the ifa priest and the babalawo's were preview to this knowledge others had to be farmers and hunters and consult Ifa etc western education has made it possible for everyone to choose to be doctors engineers etc :) you hit the nail at the end by what you said @6:10 about George Boul in regards to binary numbers that has led to computer and has further knowledge in our world today but that same knowledge was in Ifa and may be other africans or traditional knowledge but all this african knowledge was never thought to the public for others to learn and that's why western civilization and knowledge as led to demonizing our african knowledge and practices

Why isn't the Yoruba system developed scientifically today in such a way that it can be appreciably taught or used to teach the younger generation especially in Nigeria in the different schools?

rotawo the Japanese creation myth talks about particles and high pressure movement of particles in a spiritual way, when oyinbo came they said what's our own with Christianity. They didn't leave their own knowledge behind and look at them now

Sha-ul A-Vram reason is because the western forces has done everything to deny our knowledge, imagine the kind of technology we would have developed if they haven't created the level of dependency of everything we are now lacking, imagine the car professor Awojobi developed and built, Guess what, they killed him, the only way to destroy any race is by creating an environment of dependency in which any Africans will not be able to produce anything for themselves without looking to the west for deliverance. this is just my thought.until we wake up we will not conquer our enemies.

Could anyone pleeeeeaseee translate what he said from 4:33 to the end. I do not want to miss any of his words of wisdom. Thank you.
@AAde-or3qz3 жыл бұрын
Basically he's saying, if it had been written down, the babalawo would be tempted to probably read it quietly. But because it has to be said, it wasn't written down, the babalawo has to say it out loud, also to remind himself. Which is integral to how Ifa intends it. He went on to say, because Ifa is demonised by the westerners and by extension also demonised by us. We have jettisoned our forebears knowledge. Ifa is labelled a religion though it is not. Rather, it encompasses philosophy, science mathematics, and contains many other disciplines within it.
@dolapotaiwo49952 жыл бұрын
@@AAde-or3qz I think what he was trying to say in the first part is that - since historically, Yoruba was not a written language, knowledge had to be memorized and then performed to recall. Therefore, the priest reminds himself of the literature by performing it verbally to remember - which many unenlightened people condemn as "incantations". He also said that boolean algebra, which is the underlying mathematics behind computers, is exactly what the Ifa system is, and had been discovered long before George boole was born. Therefore, if there was no george boole, and if the Yorubas continued to abandon their heritage, then the world could have possibly been denied the tech behind computers which God gifted the Yorubas first.

You are right sir,but Odu IFA are code languages of the universe and the real nature is yet to be known if we sponsor full research we might be able to see more of what we are holding and be able to appreciate it more.iwaju opon o gbo,eyin opon o gbo,olumu otun, olokanran osi,arin opon ita orun,I.e reference to the four corners of the universe and the centre of the universe This is a compact information for those who can reflect,we were told that Plato came to ile Ife and became a master in Odu IFA, so upon his return to his land he wrote about the Atlantis,we all need to think and take what belong to us our Land is the centre of the universe (Odua Land).

the Babalawos mystify the consultation of the Of a, which makes it look like incantations. Well it is understandable that that's the result of oral traditions. however, how does permutations and maybe assumptions and possibilities relate directly to real life physical experiences?

I would take an exception to some points here Uncle T; '..nothing mystical about [Ifa] it..' This assertion is incorrect as this does not represent the very actions of the Ifa practitioners. This is a popular opinion and knowledge that Ifa practitioners act, talk, sacrifice and behave mystically.
@tundeadegbola49263 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I actually meant nothing mystical about a specific statement. I really do not know enough about Ifa to say nothing mystical about it. Being trained as a scientist, I limit myself to what I can learn about Ifa through science. I know there is a lot more but what can be learnt through science in itself is aaaaaaaa lot!

I am 55 years oldman today, when I was younger, I came accross opon ifa, in my family house and I ask my grand mother what was it, she told me that, the opon ifa belong to her own mothers gran mother's father, suffice to say, it has been in the family for generations, beside the opon, there was also a sack containing fine grains of white sands never saw sand so white yet. to cut story short knowing what ifa is then lead me to study computer science, I knew then that Ifa has nothing to do with spirit but more to do with mathematics.
