I've been editing for years, and this my friend has got to be one of the best editing videos I've ever seen! Not only was the film look editing spot on, but I also learned something new in the curves (S-curve) with the colors which natural makes my cameras colors pop without breaking the image. Cool tutorial. Though I sometimes wonder why people edit a feature, only to cancel out the edit later using a different tool. For example, you add contrast using an S curve in the curve but then undo the contrast using the sliders. Similarly, you add blue tones in the colour grading and then drag the temperature slider back up. I used to edit like this but recently I've been trying to be more intentional with how I use each tool.

Yo cheers for the comment! I partly get what you mean but probably just should explained what I was doing better - not always easy editing and taking and recording at the same time 😂 I think it’s fine to partly cancel things out though, especially if they are having other effects in some way. This is all part of the process in refining your edit down until your happy with it. Definitely not saying you need to go add contrast via the curves then remove it every time you edit 😂 that makes no sense. But if you overdo it via the curves, cancelling some of that pit with sliders totally makes sense. The white balance example in a similar way. I always add this look (from a preset though) which works most of the time, but not always so if I need to refine it back I tried to mention I do this via white balance, again probably not very clearly so my bad. I don’t think I actually changed it much at all in this example though. Anyway simple is great, long as your happy with your edits! That’s all that matters 😄 exactly why I always use presets as a base and just refine from there. Quick and simple once you’ve got a look saved.

Hope you see this, Was wondering if you have any info on how you color grade your in office footage of you talking to camera? I have an R5 too and just can't seem to get the colors how I want, would love to know how you edit the log footage and if you have any LUTs or use any LUTs for the editing. Or maybe if you were considering making a video on this subject or any videos already on KZbin that would be awesome too!

Thanks so much for that! I actually just use my own LUT I created a while back, then just make some minor basic adjustments depending on the clip. I will see if I can make a video on it sometime, I also plan to sell the LUTs as some stage, just haven't made it into a pack yet!
