Thank you, Samuel, for all the nice info and for showing the process. I have the same Tormek and am still getting used to it. I found it difficult to adjust the pressure but also found the right position for my hands. Thank you!!

Thank you for watching! I’m pleased that the Tormek is working out for you. There is a lot to get used to, but once you’re confident with it, it’s so intuitive.

Next time you end up with the burr in the sheath, maybe a magnet can fish it out. 52100 is magnetic, and I think most tool steels are. Also, Tormek owes you commission for the sale of one of those small knife jigs. Thanks for this informative episode.

Ah that’s a good idea! I’d never trust that I got it all out though and I’d probably blame every nic on my edge on it forever! Haha also, another excuse to make a new sheath :) Ah this is nice to hear that you got yourself a new jig. Happy sharpening to you 💚 thanks for the feedback and for watching along, pal

That's a good video. I still tend to sharpen by hand and eye, and then strop with power. I don't know if that's good or bad. I do have a question about your resetting the bar when you change sides of the blade. That would indicate to me that the edge is not centered in the middle of the blade. I know that's not always a bad thing, but I was just curious. I'm looking forward to the next video. I recently purchased a farrier's hoof knife that I intend to use as a makotogin/ hooked knife until I can afford a good one, so I think your next one will be particularly instructive.

I don’t think that stropping with power is bad… the only thing I can think of is if the friction of the strop causes too much heat.. but I would highly doubt you’re using a rotary tool to do so! I’d say it was adjusted mainly because the knife wasn’t as straight as an arrow in the jig. To the eye, the bevels look even so I think the micro adjustment would be from there being a slight discrepancy in the hand carved handle housing the hand forged blade. Im looking forward to bringing you the next video :)
