Honestly... he's out of her league. She looks like she does and yet she is still superficial. He on the other hand is very kind and genuine. When asked what she is doing: she skirts around the topic and mentions ideas for school, but doesn't actually have anything of substance. Thomas on the other hand not only has a job and another he is working on, but they are in fields where many people would say he couldn't perform the tasks in the first place thus showing his determination and strength of will. He will eventually find someone who loves him and appreciates all he has to offer while she will still be trying to chose a career and a man but can't because she keeps turning everything down or making excuses.
