The exact cause of hyperhidrosis is not known, but it is thought to be related to overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, which controls the body's sweat glands. Other potential causes include genetics, hormonal changes, and certain medical conditions or medications.

The feet are slightly different than the hands. You really can’t use Botox on the feet much because it blocks the nerves. About the only procedure that can be done is to have the glands removed like I had to have done. The healing sucked and the surgery was slightly painful as they only used a local anesthetic. But tit was worth every second of it to not go water skiing out of my bedroom every morning.

@@alanmeyers3957It *can* be. But hormones aren’t always the cause. Now that I’ve said that… I had hyperhidrosis for yearrrrrrrs too. I was under the impression it was due to medications I was taking - but not willing/able to give up-until one day chatting with my doc I asked if menopause could be a contributor. (I’d already had my uterus removed years earlier, so I didn’t have periods to use as a gauge.) Got tested and found out I was POST-menopausal.😳 Doc started me on very low dose estradiol. I haven’t had an issue with excessive sweating (or sweating for no damn good reason!) since. I feel lucky the answer was so simple and the treatment so easy for me. (One little tablet a day.) There are other causes of hyperhidrosis besides hormones and lots of people never find the help they need.😕

@@NorseForse that's crazy that a doctor removed your uterus but didn't replace your hormones. it's a given that you will go into menopause if you get your uterus removed
@NorseForse Жыл бұрын
@@vitalyaloves You only go into “instant menopause” if (both) your ovaries are removed. I kept my ovaries. When just the uterus is removed, it does slow down estrogen production from the ovaries -surgeons have to clamp off the main artery to your uterus, which also provides about 50% of the blood supply to the ovaries-but it doesn’t stop it altogether. Less blood supply = slower hormone production. The result is usually an earlier menopause. But it’s gradual, not instant. Plus there was always a question about ~IF~ I could take hormones safely; my mother died of Breast Cancer early (at 57) but we never did confirm if hers was “estrogen receptor positive” (fed by estrogen) or not. So the decision to not do hormone replacement therapy at the time was the right one. I was 37 at the time. I’ve since learned that I am able to do HRT with the normal risks, not elevated as I’d thought. (And I’m currently fine with those risks.) I *genuinely* feel lucky that the solution to the excessive sweating that ruined every part of my existence (including my job… where dripping large beads of sweat on your patients is… uhhh… frowned upon. Lol) It’s a *miserable* existence. For some people with Hyperhidrosis, there’s no clear or easy solution or treatment. Theirs might not have an identifiable cause, it may be hereditary, or it may be due to a life-saving medication. The only significant and *lasting* thing to help are these sweat gland-destroying procedures or more invasive surgeries. All I do is take a pill every morning.

I suffered sweaty hands as a child, which worsened considerably in my teens. My hands, even on cool days, would literally drip sweat and the simple act of writing with a ink pen would result in a smudgy mess. I was prescribed the very best of pharmacy solutions, which then was something called aluminium chloride hexahydrate, which was smelly and took ages to dry... but it had limited effect. In the 1990s, I elected for a surgical procedure called an endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy, which sorted my hands out completely. The procedure came with the risk of what was called compensatory sweating in other areas, and that is what happened, for even today I get some increased sweating in the back of my thighs. But on balance, it's not even REMOTELY as bad as the sweating problem I had with my hands. Anyway, it's great to see the modern technology and medicines being used by Dr. Lee to combat this problem.

I have been suffering from generalized hyperhidrosis for 10 years now, I wish her to find a solution and cope with anxiety, because I understand how difficult and painful it is for her to live with this.

Do a liver detox, the body sweats because is highly toxic, you might be allergic to some food like I was to soy and gluten, I don’t sweat anymore.

Listen, this lady needs surgery by a neurologist. I have hyperhydrosis. And I got my life back with surgery. First surgery was through the armpits to clamp and burn the over active nerve that controls sweat glans. Second was near my abdomen to gain access to the lower spinal cord to do the same. I can report no sweating in hands, armpits, and feet. However, I do sweat more than the average in my chest and back area, but not for no reason.

Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy surgery changed my life. I used to flick sweat off my hands, destroy leather shoes and had wet arm pits until Dr. Patrick Tracy in Peoria, IL performed my surgeries in 2003. Two out of three surgeries proved to be successful; the second was the least invasive and unfortunately didn’t fix the problem completely so the final surgery left two large diagonal scars at the sides of the small of my back, but it has definitely been worth it regardless.

I have Hyperhidrosis aswel, the main place I sweat is from the head ,neck and face. It's so bad it looks like I've tipped a bucket of water over me.i don't go out as I'm to embarrassed. I've been to doctors and they don't treat this condition on the NHS. I just don't have a life as I'm to embarrassed to do so.

I also have cranio-facial hyperhidrosis. I developed it after I had Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. I have tried oral meds and they don't work for me. Surgery is not an option because of other health issues. No one wants to treat these areas.

And you’re not alone in that, because by far my head was the worst problem for me. It was to the point where after a shift at work my hair look like I had just stepped out of the shower. The good news is as someone who had that problem, and no longer does it is treatable. I’ve been taking glycopyrrolate for 2 years now. It’s not an exaggeration to say that drug changed my life. I used to work at target so instead of my normal black, we had to wear red shirts. I went from having to change to a different shirt three times in an eight hour shift to sometimes forgetting to put deodorant on before I leave the house. It’s a miracle.

I never sweat until after I had my daughter. I mean literally never sweat. Now I sweat so bad that I change clothes and shower at least 4 times a day in the summer. I don't know what triggered it but I would love to go back to the way it used to be. I could stand on a heat register with the heat set at 95° and not break a sweat even in summer, now if the temperature is over 75 it looks like I showered with all my clothes on. My sweat also stinks bad, people ask me when my last shower was because its so bad. I live in Colorado so I suffer from the heat and being at the high altitude definitely doesn't help.

My old schoolmate has this I think. Her palms is sweaty all the time. I would give her tissues if her handkerchief is too wet to absorb any sweat. Her notes would be smudged sometimes. She's one of the nicest people I know.

I've lived with hyperhidrosis for many decades. Facial, back, neck, chest and from belting to knees is bad for me. Hands, feet and armpits don't really sweat for me. I have learned techniques like wearing dark colors, air-wicking clothes (active wear). And I have a career where I work alone.

Growing up I had a severe sweating under my arms. I used to get picked on a lot for it. Other than that, I sweat a lot. But to stop the under arm issue I use the armor hammer deodorant. Still sweat but not as bad as I used to as a young adult.

I had a student in middle school next to me who had this in her hands only. She was left-handed on top of it, and having to use a ruler & a rag to keep her hands from smudging what she wrote down. We lost track after school, but sometimes I wonder about her. This was in the 80s and early 90s. I think nothing could be done at the time, or she'd have done it!

Before you jump into either of these as someone who has dealt with this condition since I was 18 and I’m now 35 and now sweat less than most of my friends and family, and it only cost me five dollars for a 90 day prescription. This drug is mainly prescribed to treat ulcers in adults and children, but it is beginning to be used more and more frequently for hyperhidrosis patients as it turned out to be the answer to my prayers I’ve been taking glycopyrrolate for 2 years now. It’s not an exaggeration to say that drug changed my life. I used to work at target so instead of my normal black, we had to wear red shirts. I went from having to change to a different shirt three times in an eight hour shift to sometimes forgetting to put deodorant on before I leave the house. It’s a miracle.

So I finally decided to do something about my hyperhidrosis, because it really kicked in to high gear when I turned 30. I was asking myself the same question and ended up going to a dermatologist. That I can say without exaggeration, changed my life. I’ve been taking glycopyrrolate for 2 years now. I used to work at target so instead of my normal black, we had to wear red shirts. I went from having to change to a different shirt three times in an eight hour shift to sometimes forgetting to put deodorant on before I leave the house. It’s a miracle.
