The story is about revenge though, it’s about forgiveness. Revenge is a vicious cycle that breaks people and both Ellie and Abby by the end are broken. If Ellie got revenge and left Lev because “He’s not apart of this” Lev would seek revenge and Part II would repeat but with Dina or JJ watching Lev as he kills ellie for killing his adoptive mother.

@@WOLFYKONIK You could, yes. But the point of the story is not whether Ellie dies or lives, i was just trying to make a point. That point being that revenge is a vicious cycle, it doesn’t matter who or how, revenge breaks people as we see with the ending of Part II. During the scene where Abby kills Joel, she has little to no satisfaction in her face and she enters this trance where she seems to almost regret it although she doesn’t specify it verbally. Joel didn’t know Jerry had a daughter, the next person Ellie kills she will never know who their loved ones are and if they’ll seek revenge on her next, it’s not just about Abby, but revenge with everyone and once again how it breaks people.

For those that might "think" that this kind of ending would be best, over the ending we had, I highly encourage anybody to give a listen to the audio providen in the lost levels with Ellie and the Boar. It will make you understand the true meaning, behind that controversial ending, and probably the best setup for part 3. Nonetheless, pretty fun video :D

The true meaning has lost ALOT of its value due to the course taken in the game, ellie killed hundreds of people on her way here but wouldn't kill the worst of them all, she threw everything away for the chance to put this worthless 2 time terrorist in its grave and didn't follow through just because they needed a 3rd game. The fact of the matter is LOU2's ending only works only people who are extremely easy to manipulate emotionally. "You killed my dad who was a part of a terroist group that executes and bombs people because they stopped looking for a cure, that was going to kill the first and only immune person instead of doing any tests with a risky surgery just to make a cure to save the few people that don't die from clicker bites or breathe spores, that also didn't have the means or man power to produce, so now i joined another terrorist force and we are here to get our revenge!!!1!" And now were suppoused to feel something for her just because "its just like ellie and joel see big rough rogue type and snarky kid with a bow" yeah no dog, they aren't comparable now ellie's story has nearly no potential at all and is better off never being picked up again, but abby found some other shitty terror lords, oooooh exciting! The best set up would be ellie either killing abby and then taking lev under her wing until lev is better and forming some uneasy truce, or ellie killing abby and lev getting away to go find the fireflies join them and then slowly figure out the fireflies not only started the fight they ended up losing, but are horrible people, either way this game is where it ends for a massive part of LOU fans, many fans lost their favorite charcter(s) and have nothing to be conected with, our best hope is a tommy DLC that would cover whatever "bad thing" joel did in there younger years aswell as his rampage through seattle.

TBH this ending would’ve definitely been better. What really made TLOU part 1 ending good was the moral ambiguity of Joel’s actions. Not killing Abby after all of the buildup, was so bland and took a lot away from the narrative. Would’ve been better had she killed Abby, and taken Lev under her wing and pretty much lie to Lev the same manner Joel did in the first.

I like Owen the best out of every single character in part 2. After Joel died, I failed miserably to empathize with most of the cast, especially Abby's crew, but adult Owen was extremely kind, level headed, and just wanted to avoid drama and i hate that he died. That game killed the only 2 characters I like and assassinated Ellie's character as well. Which leaves me with one person I actually like, Lev. Not only that but I don't want to play as Lev and Abby in part 3. They really need to stop murdering the best, most relatable and realistic decent characters. It makes me not even want to see what the next game will be about. I just want to enjoy part 1 and feel good after playing it again, then play 2 and cry myself to sleep after and maybe go see my therapist for second hand PTSD. Oh right I also like Jesse! He's a totally cool relatable.... And also dead character... Ugh

Nope. Abby’s father began it all by attempting to perform fatal surgery on a child while never allowing her to regain consciousness long enough to give her a chance to decide her own fate. Ellie, if she had been given the chance to agree to the surgery, and time to spend with Joel before the procedure, is the ONLY one who could have talked him out of intervening. But he wanted to be the big hero, not be upstaged by a potential selfless sacrifice on Ellie’s part. Which is why I save the flamethrower for him.
