Former President Thabo Mbeki interacted with a student audience on 3 October 2016 at the University of South Africa (UNISA); questions ranged from Agriculture and Food Security in Africa, his view on the call for 'Free Education' by South African university students to (weak) governance in Africa.
Mbeki told the audience that everyone agrees that access to education is a priority that however we should rather look at the entire education system instead of only focusing on universities.
He further spoke about the importance of 'Progressive Leadership' in Africa, leaders who will serve their people instead of 'stealing' from them.

We love our former president, President Mbeki I wish the ANC would elect him back to office for transition while Zuma is taking resignation to deal with his legal battles.

we drop out because the degree don't have jobs. we drop out because the system works for family and friends even they don't qualify they will study. we drop out because they are people who have PhD staying at home Wat am I gona do with a degree because after it I have to work and pay back the money no no no working for the government . with all my respect dad educations is not having degree and stay home but education is the liberty from poverty, creating new skills to empower the next generation. fess drop and the system of education change (some rules have to change to suit the new system) all private sector and government after graduation learns must see them at work like medunsa system.

You are on the track of reasoning. fees must fall, free education, decolonized education... but not meeting the point. the point is which type of educational system leads to skilled jobs? free education=poor standards, decololonized education=developing your own educational system instead of shaping world knowledge(no matter where that knowledge comes from) into your needs. Discuss things that matters and keep away politicizing the quest of knowledge.

Education that meets the needs of the country and give skills to the youths should be prioritised. University-focused kind of education has been a failure across Africa - trust me.
