easy mode for tmartn: gtx 690 = 2x gtx 680 in one card. The gtx 780ti is way better than a single 680 but not as good versus two of them. Therefor the 690 was deff way more expensive, don't get a new gpu. the 780 ti is already one of the best single gpu out there!

Tmartn, gtx 780ti has 3gv effective memory while gtx 690 has 4gb but it can use only 2gb which makes gtx 780ti better for higher resolutions. Also gtx 690 is dual gpu and some games doesn't support dual gpus (ghosts doesn't) So if you play games that doesn't support dual gpus, you are just using underclocked gtx 680. I highly recomend you to use gtx 780ti. (Sorry for bad english btw)

I have the same Nighthawk. Got rid of Netfear's horrible firmware and use DD-WRT. Easy to flash and 1000% better. Plus the QoS is now much more functional and you can throttle on-the-fly without having to reboot the router. Tmar, welcome to Texas. You'll love it here once you get settled in.

Nope, the 690 is better than the 780ti. A 690 is two gtx 680's and has 4 Gb's of VRAM compared to the 780ti's 3 gbs of VRAM.

HowDoULikeMyName You don't get the full 4gb in usage as it is 2gb per gpu whereas the 780ti has 3gb per gpu and a higher memory bandwidth. But in saying all this the 780ti is newer and you could just get a second one put it in sli and you would have a killer setup.

I'm sure someone has already let you know Trevor, but a GTX 690 is a dual-GPU card. That means it's basically 2 cards on one physical PCB (the "cardboard" of the card). Essentially, it's twice the performance of a GTX 680, as it is made of 2 GTX 680 cores (slightly lower clock speed to reduce heat output though). However, since it is still SLI (SLI is Nvidia's multi-GPU technology) it may or may not be better than the GTX 780Ti. That depends on the game though, some games scale VERY well with SLI, like Battlefield, while some games scale horribly, or don't even utilize the 2nd core on the 690 at all. In that case, the GTX 780Ti would be much faster. The ridiculously fast card you might be thinking of might be the Nvidia Titan Z, or the AMD R9 295X2. However, getting the $3,000 Titan Z would be useless since you'd be using it for gaming, it would be better, and MUCH cheaper, to just get 2 780Ti's and put them in SLI. Now, on the rare chance that you're actually reading this...and you're going to wait to get one of the new Maxwell GPUs (Next generation of GTX 800 series cards), and you don't want your 780Ti...I would be glad to take it off of your hands, whether that be free or not :) I'm in the process of building a new PC and could use an upgraded GPU. Glad to help with any computer tech questions, let me know if you need more info.

According to reviews, the 690 and 780tu are both OUTSTANDING cards, they are capable of running demanding games, such as Crysis and battlefield at tremendous frame rates! So you are not worth changing your your card as try both perform at the same standards xD I hope this helped anyone!

Hay Tmartn the GTX 690 has 2 graphic processing units (GPU) in it. Where the rest of the graphics like the gtx 780 ti only has one. The down fall to have two GPU's in one graphics card is that you can't do a 4-way SLI configuration. Which is 4 cards connected to each other. The gtx 690 can only do a 2-way SLI.

The 780 has an amazing amount of chad cores I suggest using it. If you bought a second one you could run it Ali format allowing double the power ( essentially)
