For offsides, the puck has to cross the blue line first. And poke checks are very hard in NHL ur better off pushing the right stick forward and lay a body check or press X for a stick lift. Go through the tutorial ... I’d love to see u get really good at this game! Also ur skates/ feet/ movement is your left analog and ur stick for shooting (up and down) and stick handling side to side is ur right analog stick! Hope u stick with this game I know ur a basketball guy but seems like the subscribers wanna see more

Trevor: Up on the right stick is to take a wrist shot. Down up on right stick is to take a slapshot. Left/right on stick will help you stick handle and move puck from right side of body to left side or left to right. Holding A will protect the puck (not too important) If you keep holding/pushing the left stick in and forward your player will skate faster. - When playing defense, only try to poke check towards the stick if you’re too close to their feet you will get a trip. If you move the right stick up on defense you can check the player. Also look in controls to learn how to move the puck and do dekes they’re mostly all with the right stick with a little bit of L1 taps on certain moves.
@AF_30504 жыл бұрын
Offsides: An offensive player can’t cross the opposing teams blue line before the puck crosses the blue line. If the puck is in the neutral zone and someone is across the blue line, it becomes delayed offsides (play will continue) until the player or players tag up and come back outside the blue line.

Poke checks. Over the years they make poke checking harder and harder, you have to be really smart with it, dont spam very easy to trip someone. Tip: hold R1 to have complete control of your stick using right stick to move it left and right, great for defense. Faceoff: Hold right stick to left or right, as soon as you see the refs hand move pull down the stick, Left sticks aims what teammate you want your faceoff win to go to. Tip: Your a sniper and center, Wrist shots for sure best move for you, also on offense fight to the front of the net, block the goalies view so your teammates can get easy shots and as you sit in front of the goalie, you can tip the puck off a teammates shot to make it harder for the goalie to stop it.

As someone who’s favorite sport is basketball, I personally think NHL is the most fun sports game to play. Once you get good at the controls and doing different moves It seems to be the only game that purely takes skill to be good.

Offsides is when an offensive player is past the blue line before the puck. For faceoffs, you hold the right analog stick to either the right or left and swing it backwards or push it forwards as the ref drops the puck. Deking can be done with the right analog stick, moving it to the right or left when you have the puck, or you can hold the right bumper and move the right analog stick in any direction to do a variety of dekes

If you tap L1 when carrying the puck, you will do a quick deke. Your player will deke left or right depending on the direction you point the left stick. Also, you can move your right stick side to side to mimic stick handling. You can use this to deke out players and the goalie. Finally, if you hold down the X button when driving to the outside, your player will protect the puck to the outside while continuing to skate forwards. Good luck Trevor with your NHL 21 experience and I hope you enjoy playing the sport I’ve grown up loving! Much love from Canada.

I don't want to overstep or anything, just thought I would give u a couple tips. Offsides have nothing to do with the position of the last defender like soccer. It's actually pretty simple, the puck has to pass the blue line before the the offensive players. If the puck comes back out past the blue line all offensive players have to come back out before they can go back in. Center has nothing really to do with the center of the ice in terms of positioning. The center goes all over the ice and is the only forward who really helps out in the defensive zone. He goes wherever the pick is to offer support and may even battle for it down low in the D-zone. Make sure not to leave the D-zone too early. For faceoffs, push the button as soon as the ref first moves his arm. Also, you may want to learn some dekes. Nothing crazy like the kucherov or svechnikov/lacrosse style goal. Just some simple stuff like toe drags, windmill deke, puck chip off boards or around defender, and lose puck deke. This last one isn't really a tip just some info. The WHL (Western hockey league), OHL (Ontario hockey league), QMJHL ( Quebec major junior hockey league) are all part of the CHL (Canadian Hockey league) which is the major junior league in Canada (highest level of junior). The different leagues do not play each other during the season until the Memorial Cup, which is the championship tournament for the CHL at the end of the year. The winner from each league and the host team all make it to the Memorial cup. I hope this helps a bit.

Hey Trevor! Been a huge fan for years, I live in Kelowna British Columbia where the Memorial Cup was supposed to be hosted this past spring (Cancelled due to covid). Our hometown team is the Kelowna Rockets. WHL (west) OHL (Ontario) and QMJHL (Quebec) are the 3 major junior leagues in Canada where aged 16-20 year olds play. Lots of ex-NHL player ownership and coaching, and these are the top leagues for player development and supply a ton of players to the NHL.
