I love hearing the tech side of the cars. Being going to races over 50 years and pretty much know when a car doesn’t have the right setup. My ex husband ran modified stocks and my middle son ran go karts and sprint car. Keep it coming. Good luck at the Chili Bowl 👊

The guys at Engler told us at PRI last year there’s a company out of PA (can’t seem to find them now) that makes brake controllers. Said it’s quicker to control the brakes than to play with ignition, spark, timing etc. So when you see a brake rotor glowing on lap 3 of a feature, you have a good indicator of why it is. And that everyone has done it forever but nobody speaks of it.

I’m loving the extra content. As for the rule changes for the winged cars the cockpit adjustable shock is pretty significant. And cheating at the chilli bowl has been going on for years.

Could do a midget 101 video explain all the in car shock adjusting on different track types along with maybe some other adjustments for different situations. Lots of young racers that need to learn these things. Theirs not hardly any informative videos on racing setup and Maintance, etc...

Hey man... Good video... So do you think the change that High Limit is making with the adjustment knob in cockpit is really gonna help all the guys like yourself, Bacon, Pursley and whoever else moves to HL from USAC? At least in the first part of the season, I know all you guys are smart and the rest will figure it out as time goes by. I live in Oklahoma so I am really trying to get everything lined up so I can come watch all week at the Chili Bowl...really looking forward to it!

How much does traction control really work on dirt when you're pretty much spinning the tires all the time? Does it make an excellent handling fast car perfect? Does it aid with changing track conditions versus finding the groove with moisture?
@BenDecko20239 күн бұрын
Traction control now is software as you talk about however some fans think it has to do with wheel sensors and such, but that is 90's technology.

I was a part of a pretty successful dirt late model team that ran a national touring series for about 10 years (2000-10) and traction control an many teams used it. I felt that it had some advantages but it wasn't as dominant as some thought. The biggest issues in dirt racing is the cost. It needs to be controlled as much as it can. Our budget on a national series in 2005 was 225k for the year. One of my friends who still runs nationally says its over 750k now.
@tmezTv22 күн бұрын

As Cale Yarborough once said, "if you aint cheatin, you aint winnin". Its always been an arms race between the teams and the officials. Money is the factor too. I would like yo see ZERO cockpit adjustment in midgets and sprint cars. Driving a wing car is hard enough without another thing to play with. You would think with midgets being a more entry level series they wouldnt have them to keep costs down, but they do. It is what it is.
@tmezTv22 күн бұрын
Nobody is turning them during the race. It’s usually under a yellow.

Traction Control in Dirt Track??? LAME AS FUCK. PERIOD!!!
@kevinhuber872320 күн бұрын
Traction control is hard to police as it can be buried in ignition software. It has been around for a long time. (read late 90's) One rule I would like to see is the McIntosh rule where if a guy blatantly nerfs you out of transfer position he gets tossed out! The economics of Midget racing makes zero sense to Me.

Series need to switch up their tech officials every 4/5 years to stay on top of what you guys are doing. Ideally you would get a crew member to switch allegiance. Not a fan of any in race adjusters. I'd rather guys figure out how to go fast with what they got.
@jasongariss585821 күн бұрын
Well if they would quit hiding it in what's suppose to b a legal USAC box traction control should've never have been into sprint car racing don't lie about the traction control either cause this is the reason you wouldn't tell me what kinda box that was on you're car if you need traction control to win you're not a racer you're a cheater you don't need any specific guy to do it just someone who knows how to get into a computer an just look at the programs on it I'm just a hillbilly an I could find it within 20 min
