My family has a saying when it comes to dessert, "sides and corners don't count". Meaning if you bake a cake, etc., you eat the side and corner pieces and give the center part to someone else. That way your only eating half the cake and not stressing about the cake that you do eat.

It's interesting to hear stories like Mamrie's in the USA about someone opening her garage door unexpectedly and her fearful reaction. Luckily in Europe there isn't this level of fear, because there doesn't need to be. We can walk around at night without much concern, if our door opens unexpectedly it's like "Well the thing's so old it was going to break and swing open at some point, i guess today's that day" or it's just a neighbor borrowing something for some urgent gardening, haha. If someone's walking around crazily in the street in our neighborhood or anywhere else we don't assume they're going to murder us, that's a vulnerable person who needs help, so we call help for them (thankfully social support and welfare is ok-ish on this general landmass). Also if it is a thief chances are good for tackling them because they're unlikely to be carrying a gun or knife. I'm glad we have this freedom.

You guys-- they just give you a paper and write how many bags/boxes you dropped off, or a big item. :-D No worries! Ours in Ohio aren't doing the coupons anymore-- they give you points on the money you spend, and once you reach 100 pts, you get 30% off your next purchase. I think they save money that way, because less people will come back to redeem it.

Critical thinking is so important, especially when it comes to the internet. I understand that the whole breast cancer charity may have made it seem legit but why would Grace sell apple products?
