This is great information for students studying dentistry, the medical field (MD's), PT's, people who have TMJ, and the general population. But chiropractors learning the anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ? Chiropractors should not be anywhere close to manipulating/adjusting this joint. It is a very complex joint and a sensitive area that is important for the body to function every single day. Massage by a chiropractor around the TMJ for people who have a TMJ disorder? Sure, but a massage therapist and physical therapist trained in TMJ can do the same thing or even better.

I was a tad confused when you said that during the anterior translation of the (depression action) that there was a click on opening . Does that not mean that the mandibular condyles ¨¨jumped¨¨ the disc which is abnormal??
@douglasgillarddcprofessoro52852 жыл бұрын
Oh my, I made this video so long ago, I can't remember exactly what you're talking about. But that clicking sound often means that the condyles are not riding smoothly and are jumping or at least hopping over some defect.

Did you say cerebral spinal fluid in the joint capsule ? Did you mean synovial fluid?
@douglasgillarddcprofessoro52853 жыл бұрын
Of course. There is obviously no cerebrospinal fluid inside the TMJ joint.
@edithwright54093 жыл бұрын
@@douglasgillarddcprofessoro5285 It was in the part of the presentation in which you were showing the Capsular Ligament and mentioned the capsule was full of CSF around 10.08 of the presentation.I listened again to make sure I hadn’t misheard. Thank you for replying. I am not a student of anatomy. I just like to see how my various achy joints are supposed to work. Thanks for sharing these informative lectures.

@douglasgillarddcprofessoro52852 жыл бұрын
No, I was correct: it's the temporal process of the zygomatic bone. The zygomatic process the temporal bone is on the other side of the suture.

You might have a disc displacement or you might have a chronic inflammatory condition that can be degenerative. If you want to be diagnosed, the best person to help you would actually be a Dentist, they are the most qualified medical professional to treat TMD (temporomandibular disorder)
